Formed in South Los Angeles in 2000, SOLA began almost by divine coincidence: three powerhouse musicians—Niomesha (Nio), Darrel, and Bruce—unexpectedly landed on the same gig and instantly unlocked a chemistry that felt bigger than the moment itself. Darrel and Bruce, already vibing as a drum-and-bass duo, knew they had found something special. And when Niomesha began to sing, the decision was immediate and unanimous: this was the right combination, and this would become something legendary.

What started as a spark quickly grew into a musical family. Over the last twenty-five years, The Soul of Los Angeles has evolved into a world-class ensemble of elite musicians—each hand-picked for their artistry, professionalism, and passion for creating unforgettable live experiences. NIO RENEE’ – Lead Vocals

Born in Los Angeles into a powerhouse musical family, Nio Renée is the eldest daughter of Ronald Wilson, formerly of the legendary groups Bloodstone and The Temptations. Music has been her destiny from the beginning. She wrote her first song at age five and launched her professional career by age twelve while living and performing in Germany.

Nio’s voice is a brilliant fusion of Jazz, R&B, Soul, Blues, Funk, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, and Dance. She has toured and shared the stage with some of the biggest artists in the world, including:

DARYL DARDEN – Guitar & Vocals

From St. Louis, Missouri, Daryl Darden is a highly respected guitarist and vocalist whose sound blends soulful blues with jazz sophistication. Mentored by the iconic George Benson, Daryl has earned praise from some of the greatest musicians alive. Influenced by Bobby Blue Bland, B.B. King, and Albert King, he brings a powerful mixture of vocal grit, smooth phrasing, and exquisite guitar artistry.

Daryl is widely regarded as one of the most gifted musicians of his generation—a true virtuoso whose skill, tone, and musical feel elevate every SOLA performance.

BRUCE CECIL – Bass & Vocals

A Chicago native, Bruce Cecil found his love of rhythm early—starting on makeshift coffee-can drums at six years old. He later shifted to bass, mastering the groove that would become his calling card. After finishing college, Bruce moved to Hollywood and at age 21 landed a major gig touring the world with The 5th Dimension.

With nearly five decades of experience, Darryl “D-Notes” Harris is a drummer, musical director, producer, and creative force. Most recently, he toured the Baltic, Caspian, and Mediterranean Seas performing nightly aboard the Norwegian Star Cruise Ship.
