Each session includes a live reading from one of Kentrell’s award-winning children’s books, followed by an energetic, hands-on ASL lesson where the audience learns 60–90 ASL signs in just 30–45 minutes. The presentation is fast-paced, age-appropriate, and highly engaging, keeping children actively involved from start to finish.

Kentrell Martin is an award-winning children’s book author, educator, and speaker best known for creating interactive literacy experiences that bridge the gap between the Deaf and hearing communities through American Sign Language (ASL).
He is the creator of the Shelly’s Adventures book series, a collection of children’s books designed to promote inclusion, empathy, and communication. What sets Kentrell apart is how he brings his stories to life. During his live readings and presentations, students don’t just listen—they actively participate, learning 60–90 ASL signs in as little as 30–45 minutes through movement, repetition, and play.

Space Requirements: Open area or standard classroom/library setup with enough room for audience participation and movement
Sound: No microphone or sound system required for small to medium groups. For large assemblies, a handheld or lapel microphone is helpful but not required
