What to expect

Imagine three beautiful women, taking the stage, opening their mouths and silencing a noisy room with an a cappella song. Picture them adding guitar, ukulele and upright bass to the mix and creating an acoustic framework to support weaving stories of life experiences, emotions, journeys through life and landscapes. Imagine humor, heartbreak and harmony all offered artfully, professionally, and honestly.
This is a true folk experience coming from three seasoned performers who use song and story to effect change in people's hearts and bring beauty into the world. Whether singing our own original compositions, or artfully rendering our interpretations of other people's material, we bring our own special flavor and influence to every piece we deliver.
Thriving both as the main event and as a sonic compliment to an array of other functions, from weddings to reunions, festivals to book launch parties, our musical gifts are easy to companion with many settings and circumstances.
We can offer shows up to three hours long, with breaks, and never repeat a tune. We are potentially able to customize our repertoire to fit an event, especially if requests are made in advance, or can self select a performance that will fit the venue, intention and audience appropriately.

About

As rising stars in the west coast Americana scene, The Real Sarahs have distinguished themselves as skillful harmony singers and evocative songwriters. With an organic sound that enchants and uplifts the spirit, they share their special gift of vocal synergy. This ensemble creates magic with voices in harmony, acoustic instruments, and the energetic connection between artists and audience. Embracing many genres of music, you are likely to hear threads of folk, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and country running through their songs. Singing from the stories of their own journeys and life experiences, their original music is honest, captivating and heartfelt.
As if by fate, Sarah 'Songbird' Larkin and Sarah Ryan were introduced in 2011 and quickly discovered a mutual love for harmony singing and songwriting. Almost immediately, they began writing and performing together. Honing their trademark harmonic vocal style and original compositions, they recorded their first CD together in 2013 and The Real Sarahs was born. They have released two subsequent albums 'Afternoon With The Dirty Birds' in 2017 and 'Headed For The Hills' in 2018. They have performed as a duo and trio and occasionally with a full band to the delight of their audiences.
The group has emerged as a featured act at many local festivals including the Kate Wolf Festival in Laytonville, Railroad Square Music Festival in Santa Rosa, Redwood Ramble in Navarro, and the Sundays in the Park concert series in Ukiah where they opened for Ozomatli in 2017. They recently played at The Independent in San Francisco as part of Nat Keefe's Concert Carnival which was broadcast live on KPFA. While enjoying playing at venues large and small, these women are steadily growing a regional and international fanbase.
With gratitude for the gift of music given them, The Real Sarahs offer back their gifts with open hearts and truth of purpose. These women seek to inspire, uplift and entertain their audiences with songs that speak to the heart of the human experience. With warmth and humor The Real Sarahs offer their REAL selves to the world as the women of song that they were born to be.

Additional booking notes

Our setup is simple and portable and can be put together quickly.
We use three microphones with stands and three DI boxes to amplify our instruments.
We are flexible with setting and can be on a stage or not, inside or out, as long as a PA is strong enough to amplify over outside sounds.
We need at least a minimal amount of light to see our instruments and set list. Beyond that, we are fairly flexible to accommodate mood and location.
We prefer sound to be provided, but can bring our own setup for an additional fee.
