The Palmetto Rose Band

You can expect an interesting mix of vocal music that originates from the Bluegrass, Vocal, Folk and Americana tradition with only a smattering or instrumental leads. If you are looking for a hard core jam band or leading edge Bluegrass instrumental virtuosity, or pretentiousness - you'll need to look elsewhere. We love to entertain our audiences with songs that tell stories and about the lives of everyday people and their problems, loves, losses and joys. Open up any Bluegrass or folk songbook, and you'll find a good number of the songs we play.

Palmetto Rose is a versatile acoustic duo from the South Carolina Lowcountry, performing an engaging mix of Americana, classic country, bluegrass, folk, and familiar favorites from across the decades.

Featuring Jennifer Simon and "Doc" Jeff Goller, Palmetto Rose combines male and female lead vocals with close harmony and an unusually broad instrumental palette for a two-person group. Depending on the song, you'll hear acoustic guitar, fiddle, Dobro/resonator guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and percussion. That variety lets us create a surprisingly full and changing sound while retaining the warmth and intimacy of acoustic music.

Our philosophy is simple: play good songs that people recognize, connect with the audience, and make the event enjoyable. Our repertoire ranges from traditional bluegrass and Hank Williams to John Denver, Johnny Cash, The Eagles, Old Crow Medicine Show, Hootie & the Blowfish, and other familiar country, folk, Americana, and popular favorites. Expect songs that tell stories, strong vocal harmonies, lively fiddle and Dobro, and plenty of opportunities to tap your feet or sing along.

Because we're a duo, we're equally comfortable entertaining a seated audience or fitting unobtrusively into a reception, party, restaurant, coffeehouse, senior community, church gathering, community event, or other intimate venue. We can adjust our repertoire, volume, and presentation to suit the occasion.

We believe in giving back to the community and are happy to discuss your charity event at a greatly discounted or free rate (depending on the organization)

We can provide our own PA for smaller event or work with your sound people for larger events with a provided PA system. We require electric power for PA (if used) and small Bass amp. We require overhead protection from rain if that's in the forecast, for electrical safety! Please consider where your backup plan is for band placement in the event weather does not favor your event plans.
