The Palmetto Rose Band
Overview
The "Palmetto Rose Band" is a Lowcountry "NearGrass" band- a unique combination of acoustical musical styles, with songs from the worlds of Bluegrass, Country, Folk and Americana traditions as well as some catchy original music. The primary musical line-up consists of Nicole (Claw-hammer Banjo); Jeff (Dobro), Ken (Guitar), Rick (Upright Bass), and Fred (Scruggs style Banjo). The songs feel immediately recognizable and make you want to sing along as well as think, and relate to the lives and the stories the songs tell. Perfect for any party or any event where listenable, vocal Bluegrass songs are wanted without the extreme hard core edge of Bluegrass instrumental music.

What to expect
You can expect an interesting mix of vocal music that originates from the Bluegrass, Vocal, Folk and Americana tradition with only a smattering or instrumental leads. If you are looking for a hard core jam band or leading edge Bluegrass instrumental virtuosity, or pretentiousness - you'll need to look elsewhere. We love to entertain our audiences with songs that tell stories and about the lives of everyday people and their problems, loves, losses and joys. Open up any Bluegrass or folk songbook, and you'll find a good number of the songs we play.
About
The Palmetto Rose Band sprang forth from the musical traditions of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Originally started as a traditional Bluegrass band, the group has absorbed and integrated many complementary styles and genres. Difficult to describe, but always easy to enjoy; the band will delight you with songs from the worlds of Bluegrass, Country Folk and Americana traditions as well as some catchy original music. The primary musical line up consists of: Nicole on lead vocals and claw-hammer banjo, Jeff on Dobro and vocals, Ken on acoustic guitar and vocals, Fred on Scruggs style banjo and vocals, and Rick on upright bass. The songs feel immediately recognizable and make you want to sing along as well as think, and relate to the lives and the stories the songs tell. Their music has been described as informal as “a comfortable pair of jeans”, and yet respectful of the origins and roots of the music they play. Whatever your tastes in acoustic music, we’re sure you will find something to enjoy with the Palmetto Rose Band! Please contact us for more information about playing your next event. We do events of any size including stage based, private parties, Farmers Markets and outdoor festivals. We believe in giving back to the community and are happy to discuss your charity event.
