The Oak and the Ash

We perform a variety of classic Irish pub songs, Celtic folk, ballads, and modern tunes sung and played with acoustic guitar, cello and rhythm/percussion. We can work with you to create a setlist that compliments the vibe of your particular event. We take specific song requests if made at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

After several years of living on opposite sides of the country, Josh Cooper (cello, vocals, etc.) and Danny Mays (guitar, vocals, etc.) are thrilled to be reuniting in the New York City area in March 2024. Josh and Danny are longtime friends and musical collaborators. Josh is an experienced cellist who studied cello performance at Peabody Preparatory. His work ranges from folk to classical to jazz and more. Josh works in the menswear industry, keeping New York's gentlemen looking sharp!

Danny is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer and composer with two decades of experience recording and performing music. Danny works in the healthcare industry.

We will bring all of our own instruments, microphones and microphone stands. We require about 5-10 square feet of space to perform. We need to be within 5 feet of at least two electrical outlets. We can also provide a PA/speaker system for an additional fee of $50 and this will require about 5 square feet of additional space.
