The Michigan Bagpiper

I am the Pipe Sargent of the new 2017 pipe band: "Motor City Pipes and Drums". Piping is more than just a hobby and job I love; it's an opportunity for me to help you create the perfect atmosphere and memories for your event. It doesn't just happen- it takes years of experience and a special sensitivity and attention to detail to get it right.
I have the privilege of momentarily being involved in people's lives at a very emotional time; sometime's I'm helping a couple plan the biggest celebration of their life, and sometime's, I'm working out the details for one of the most difficult times a family will ever endure.Hire experience.

Some of my favorite piping events include; opening for Rod Stewart concerts, opening for the premier of the movie "Our Vietnam Generation" at the Fox, The Moving Wall visiting Hamburg MI, Relay for Life, MGM Grand Hotel and Detroit Yacht Club weddings, Oakland University ethnic program, The Clawson and Royal Oak Public Library's, and of course- piping every St Patty's Day for local Beer distributors.

WEDDINGS - Whether you're looking for one tune, or a day filled with "Scottish or Irish flavor"; I have a wonderful selection of Scottish and Irish tunes. Tunes such as; "Murdo's Wedding", "Scotland the Brave", or the very popular song- "When Irish Eyes are Smiling". Looking for something more traditional? I also play "Here comes the Bride". Looking for something more romantic? "For the Love of a Princess" from the hit movie Braveheart, is one of my most requested wedding tunes. For the biggest WOW! save the piper as a surprise for the recessional! You, your guests and your family will be talking about your wedding for years-make your memories incredible by including a female bagpiper.

FUNERALS AND MEMORIALS - There is nothing that touches the heart more, than to hear a piper playing "Amazing Grace", "Going Home", "Danny Boy" or "When Irish Eyes are smiling". The U of M fight song is quickly becoming one of my most requested songs. A bagpiper is appropriate for any size funeral, memorial or military service- at the church, funeral home, cemetery or hall. Every military service should include a bagpiper; Taps and the Marine Corp. Hymn are available. My softer Gibson bagpipes are very popular for memorials and funeral services at a funeral home, private residence, restaurant or chapel. For inside, smaller gatherings- the Gibson pipes bring the "flavor" of the bagpipes without the overwhelming volume.

PARTIES AND SCOTTISH, CELTIC OR IRISH THEMED EVENTS - My unique piping show and performance, is entertaining as well as informational. Always a hit everywhere I go! Perfect for parties, schools, libraries, seniors groups, assisted living facilities and heritage clubs. My 20-45 minute (I can adjust my show to meet your needs) interactive program includes; a nice selection of tunes piped on a variety of bagpipes, interesting fun facts and folklore about bagpipes and my piping attire, and a wee bit of highland history.
This is not a concert.
This program is appropriate for groups of all sizes and ages. For schools and libraries, I can also include teaching a couple simple highland dance steps, with audience participation.
Please note; My program is not appropriate for those with special needs, in long term care nursing homes or rehabilitation centers. The bagpipes are VERY LOUD! Your group must be able to watch, listen and interact appropriately for up to 45 minutes. Please make sure the room is an appropriate size for the volume of the bagpipes.

PICK YOUR PIPES - Choose between the popular and incredible sounding Great Highland Bagpipes, and my Gibson Small "Fireside" Bagpipes. Or choose both! The Great Highland Bagpipes are perfect for outdoor venues and for services where you want only the traditional sound of the loud bagpipes. The Small pipes are perfect for indoor, more intimate settings, where a softer bagpipe sound would be more appropriate. I have a special selection of Irish and Scottish tunes that sound lovely on the small pipes. Not sure? Ask; I can make a suggestion as to which pipes I think would work best.
