Overview
More than one person has called us "the best swing dance band in Charlotte” but its ok just to listen and tap your feet! The Mark Larson Combo performs swing and latin jazz, popular music, French Cafe (accordion!) music, ballads and instrumentals from the 20s -60s. We also specialize in Americana music of the 50s through 80s. Lead singer Mark Larson plays acoustic piano, accordion and metal body resonator guitar with versatile percussionist Scott McLaughlin. When he brings along the full band, guitarist Guillermo Villiar and fiddler Tom Hanchett trade off on solos with bassist Parker Foley and Jennie Brooks on percussion.

I've heard The Mark Larson Combo perform several times in various settings including a jazz patio, a community swing dance and a private party. They pleased the crowd each time with a wide variety of music played flawlessly.

Mark and the band performed for over 100 people at our formal dinner event for our Father's 90th birthday. they were lovely and professional all the way around. Their sound quality and talent were incredible. I would recommend them for any event!

What to Expect
Our band is versatile. We can play for many settings and situations. If you need a duo, trio or quartet of lively classic or latin Jazz, French Cafe or Americana music we can play that wide a variety of tunes. We can play instrumental pieces quietly in the background or vocal pieces with an out-front attitude. We can entertain listeners or get folks on their feet dancing if that's what you want!
About
The Mark Larson Combo is a "Big Tent" band. Music has the power to bring us together under the shelter of having fun. Also we play a lot of different songs under our tent, playing for Breweries, Galleries, Crafts Markets, Corporate Events, Senior Living Centers, The Charlotte City Club, Arts and Science Council Events and Tosco Music. Mark sings, plays keys, accordion and resonator guitar and likes to bring his jazz fiddle playing buddy Tom Hanchett. Guillermo Villar plays archtop electric guitar. Parker Foley plays upright bass with Jennie Brooks on percussion.
