Overview

The Latch Keys are a Louisville trio playing soul, blues, and rock n roll for events that want a real live band: guitar, bass, drums, three seasoned players, no backing tracks. We read the room, keeping it warm and easy early for dinner and conversation, then shifting to danceable, recognizable songs that fill a floor as the night builds. Our 80+ song catalog runs from classic soul and blues (Aretha, Otis, B.B. King) to current blues rock (Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., Nathaniel Rateliff), with broad appeal across generations. We're fully self contained with our own pro PA and sound, we load in early, set up fast, and tailor every set to your event.

What to expect

The Latch Keys are a Louisville-based soul, blues, and rock ‘n’ roll trio. We take classic and deep-cut songs from across those genres and deliver them with the tight, in-the-pocket feel.
Whether it’s a bar crowd, a private party, or a gala, expect a set that moves between grit and groove: soulful vocals, driving rhythm, and guitar work that leans into tone as much as technique. We read the room and shape the set list to fit the vibe with dance-floor energy for a party and a warmer, more textured sound for a cocktail hour or listening crowd.
For event planners: we’re low-maintenance and reliable. We bring our own gear, handle our own sound considerations, and communicate clearly on logistics before the day of the show, so you’re not troubleshooting on-site.

About

The Latch Keys are a Louisville-based soul, blues, and rock ‘n’ roll trio built around guitar, bass, and drums. By day, we’re a plumber, a financial advisor, and a philosophy professor. But on stage, none of that matters. It’s all about good tone, tight groove, and a shared love for the songs that built these genres.
We started this band with a shared taste in music and an itch to play it loud and live. Since then, we’ve worked to build a sound that’s bigger than three people, blending classic tones with a modern live setup so every note lands the way it should, whether we’re playing a neighborhood bar or a private event.
What ties it all together is a genuine love for the music.

Sound & Staging Requirements
The Latch Keys can handle sound, staging, and lighting ourselves for most venues, but we’re happy to work with an in-house system if one’s provided.
∙ Space: We typically need about 10x10 ft of stage or floor space for a 3-piece setup (guitar, bass, drums). Flexible if the venue is tighter — just let us know in advance.
∙ Power: Standard access to 2-3 outlets near the performance area.
∙ Sound: We can bring and run our own full PA and mixing setup for small-to-mid-sized rooms, or plug into house sound if the venue has it. Either way, we handle our own monitoring and tone.
∙ Lighting: No special lighting requirements from the venue — we perform well under standard or ambient lighting. If needed, we can also bring our own basic stage lighting to help set the mood, or work with production lighting if the venue provides it.
∙ Load-in: We appreciate a heads-up on load-in access (stairs, elevator, parking) so we can plan gear transport, but we’re used to adapting on-site.
Bottom line: we can be fully self-sufficient — sound, staging, and lighting — or plug into whatever the venue already has. Either way, a smooth setup and good sound are on us.
