November 3, 2025Amanda was absolutely Amazing!
From my first interaction with Amanda, she was unbelievable! I had a very last-minute request to find a local (ish) bagpiper to finalize my grandfather's funeral wishes. I wasn't made aware of this request until 2 days prior, and within minutes of my submission, Amanda responded with videos, how she can help and references! She was super responsive, incredibly detailed, timely, and professional! She even reached out to the funeral director to work out timing so that I could focus on being with my family. I would HIGHLY recommend Amanda if you have the need for a bagpiper in her covered areas of travel! She is a true gem!

Erin,
Thank you so very much for your most kind and detailed review. I appreciate it greatly and am happy to hear you were well pleased with my skills as a Piper. To you it may have seemed last minute, but this is part of what I do and was truly a non issue for me since I happened to be available. I was grateful that we had such a wonderful rapport as it made what was a difficult time for you and your family as easy as it could be given the circumstances. As I told you, it is always an honor when asked to thin the “veil “ for a loved one/ancestor made anew. Other than establishing the tunes that you wished and the feelings you wished to connect with that day, the next most important thing to me always is to take as much off my clients plate as possible so they may be with their family.
I wish you and yours, nothing but continued comfort and peace as you move forward without such an integral part of your family.
Kindly, Amanda

Darby, Thank you for your kind words . I appreciate them more than you know. Not only was it an honor to pipe for you and your love, but it was a blessing for me as well. To have been welcomed in such a way by not only yourselves , but those you hold dear is rarity and is not a feeling I will soon forget. I wish you nothing but happiness and goodness going forward . As always and with kindness and fondness , Amanda

July 19, 2025Amanda was sympathetic, engaged and professional
When our Scottish Uncle died we contacted Gig Salad for a bagpiper. We needed her assistance very quickly since there was little time to plan the memorial service. Amanda responded with seconds with my request and showed sympathy, engagement and professionalism. She helped me plan a beautiful respectful addition to our heartfelt goodbye. Thank you again Amanda!
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you again!!!

Jill and family, thank you for the honor of participating in Dan’s farewell. I appreciated the rapport that you and I had in the planning process and how welcoming you all were that day as it all truly matters. I’m sure we were all grateful that the rain went the other direction. Thank you so very much for your kind review. I am happy you were pleased . I wish you all continued comfort and peace.

Amy and family. Thank you for your most kind words regarding your mother’s celebration of life. It is always my goal to pay attention to the “little details” in order to comfort all in attendance. I very much appreciated the information you provided me about your mother as it enabled me to personalize things just “that much more “ and therefore hopefully , making the difficult things a little less… difficult. I wish you all peace and comfort as you continue on. Kindly,
Amanda.

About
"To the making of a Piper goes 7 years and 7 generations before . Only then do they stand at the beginning of knowledge "......Since I was small , I have always loved the skirl of the bagpipes . As a little girl , my staunchly Scottish grandfather made sure that I understood and appreciated my heritage . For as long as I can remember , I have always felt a connection to the "pipes . Little did I know that 25 years later at the age of 31 I would begin learning how to play the ancient and majestic instrument that I loved so much .
As I began my study of the Great Highland Bagpipe and it's history , I realized that generations of my Scottish Clan , the Mac Gregors , were 'pipers to the most ancient kings of Scotland . Couple that with my Irish half , Clan Murray ,and I suppose that I was destined to be a bagpiper . I couldn't believe the connection I had with this art form . As I practiced , it seemed to calm me and clear my mind . I had played other instruments in the past. None however , had this kind of effect on my personal being . I have even recently discovered that my 3x Great Uncle William Grigor Sr was a piper in his own right. I like to think that sometimes if conditions are favorable , he walks with me as I continue our family’s legacy .
Now 23 years since beginning my studies , I have earned the rank of Pipe Sergeant of The Lion & Thistle Highlanders of Butler , Pa of which I am one of the founding members . I perform regularly on a professional basis for everything from Weddings to Funerals , to Birthdays and Anniversaries , to Festivals , Educational Presentations , and any other occasion you would like to “ tartan up!”
Ask anyone who plays the pipes WHY they play . Most likely , they wont be able to give you a definitive answer and truthfully , neither can I . Quite Simply I pipe because , I must . They call to me , speak to me , and are and always will be my saving grace .
Additional booking notes
In some instances , I will require that clearance for my appearance be obtained from the venue . Whether or not this will be needful will be determined on a case by case basis dependent upon the location of your event . Please understand that the Great Highland Bagpipes can be loud (dependent on where the performance will take place ), and have only two volumes...."ON" and "OFF". Higher ceilings and/ or larger rooms/halls are best suited though I often perform in regular sized spaces with no issue whatsoever. This can all be discussed in our communications with each other in order to achieve the optimum experience for all involved. Regarding outdoor performances , cover would be appreciated though not necessary, in the event of inclement weather. Outdoor performances in the deep winter would not be advisable as the temperature extremes can occasionally affect the mechanics of the pipes themselves due to the material of which the pipes are manufactured (african blackwood and cane). Again, let us discuss things and see what can be done.
How Long CAN , or SHOULD a piper play?
This answer will vary by the piper , and I am no different. Though we have a bag under our arm , it is best to remember that there is a human at the end of a blowstick providing air to said bag. Throughout my years I have found that anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes of piping is “just right” dependent on the type of event as a “little bit of bagpiper” goes a very long way and provides a very big and often unforgettable impact for those in attendance. This is always flexible by event and upon chatting , we will figure what amount is most suitable for your occasion .
Commendations
Official Piper , Honorific , The Order of Jerusalem - Relic Crusade ( when called upon , I pipe for official Order business wherever they may need me)
Pipe Sergeant, Lion & Thistle Highlanders , Butler PA ( founding member)
Official Piper for The Confederation of Union Generals of the Civil War (when called upon I have the honor of piping upon the battlefields of Gettysburg in an official capacity during the Battle Reenactment in July as well as Remembrance Day in November )
Ultimately
Quotes will be customized on an event by event basis (not by time required or tunes requested ) taking into consideration information provided by perspective clients in original inquiry & will be inclusive of my skills as a piper, duties requested of me at your event , and travel logistics ( if and when applicable & at my discretion) . Private lessons are also available.

Set list
The Great Highland Bagpipes are a very unique instrument in the musical world. Due solely to their design and musical "key structure" not all music can be played on them whether it be ancient or modern, religious or rock . To that end though not exclusively , I specialize in the traditional music of the pipes from Scotland and Ireland. Should you wish a particular tune that is not in my present repertoire, with enough notice I will gladly give it a look to see if it can effectively be done. Regarding my current "set list" there are simply too many to list and I encourage you to inquire during our communications.
