About
HOLY ROCKA ROLLAZ BIO
Get ready to rock the fabulous 50s with Minnesota’s own Holy Rocka Rollaz!
If it’s the classic early American rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Johnny
Cash, Chuck Berry, Patsy Cline (and many more!) that you like, played just the way those
legends played it, you have found your dream band. The Holy Rocka Rollaz bring back the
sound, the look and spirit of one of America’s most treasured eras.
Nothing pleases these rock ‘n’ roll veterans more than seeing different generations enjoy this
classic music together. The Holy Rocka Rollaz play with such high energy and joy that people of
all ages get caught up in the excitement that flies off the stage.
The trio has traveled coast to coast on many theater tours, performed several times at the
Wisconsin State Fair, the Minnesota State Fair, many other state and county fairs, the huge
Back to the 50s Car Show, Surf Ballroom, city events across the Upper Midwest, private events,
car shows, festivals, sock hops, barn dances, churches and prisons.
Band leader Mark Flora performs with a Tennessee Rose Gretsch guitar and vintage tube
amplifier, and his wife Lisa Lynn slaps a standup bass while singing. The trio is filled out with
firecracker drummers who perform using vintage drum kits.
Mark says his proudest moment came when the band took the Winter Dance Party stage at the
historic Surf Ballroom in January of 2016. “Knowing that I was playing on the same stage Buddy
Holly performed his last concert, well, it was quite an honor.”
The honor of performing at the Winter Dance Party continued in even better ways! The Holy
Rocka Rollaz HEADLINED a Friday night bill in 2018!
The band’s first performance was in the South Dakota State Pen serving in a ministry capacity,
where Flora had been sharing the good news starting in 2003. “We were having so much fun
playing in the state pen that we decided to take our show to car shows and other events. We
really do enjoy playing 50s rock ‘n’ roll just the way it was played back in the day. Seeing people
light up when we really go for it brings this band a lot of joy. We hope to do this for many years
and for many people.”
Additional booking notes
The band does have a full sound system for smaller to mid-size events and venues. If the show is in the Upper Midwest, the band is accustomed to driving to performances with their sound system and small lighting system.
For performances outside of the Upper Midwest, the band is accustomed to flying to further distances. When doing that, the band requires a simple backline of amplifiers and drum kits. Sound and lights need to be provided by the purchaser.
