September 6, 2022Excellent Band!!
We hired the FTones to play at our wedding in August 2022 and were very happy with their services. Stephanie was very responsive and invited me to one of their pub gigs before we booked so I could see them play in person. The band did a site visit prior to the event to make sure they would have all the equipment they needed and their set up the day-of was done as planned and very efficient. In addition to being very easy to work with, their music is fantastic!! Awesome sound, very talented musicians and a great variety of music to please different tastes. Highly recommend the FTones for anyone looking to hire a great band.

What to expect
>Our primary goal as a professional cover band initially is to make sure the client understands what we are and what we bring. We want to ensure we provide a satisfying and "expected" experience. We play everything from lighter melodic songs to heavier guitar based ones and our volume can and will vary. We are conscious of our "on-stage" volume but require a certain level to match drum volume.
>We are suited to events where dancing is likely and expected. We are not suited to events where the client is looking for background music.
About
CHRIS MACLAREN//guitar, vocals
Chris took to music early in life, with the radio being a constant companion in the home. By age seven he had developed an unhealthy and possibly unnatural obsession with The Beatles. It wasn't long before he started asking to be shown a few bits on his uncle's guitar and in grade five exploded onto the local elementary school Ukulele scene. A couple years later, equipped with his first electric guitar he formed his first band Pure Honey. With a repertoire of two songs and one dream they went on to defeat the incumbent grade ten band and win the school talent show. With Concert and Jazz Choir a constant staple, Chris developed a knack and appreciation for vocal harmony. Years later Chris founded The FTones and enjoys playing with like minded musicians.
STEPHANIE IVY//bass, vocals
Born and raised in Ontario, Stephanie's early influences were directly related to her parent's love of country music. Her first instrument was the steel guitar.....at 4 years old! As a teenager, she came to her senses and lost her heart to rock and roll when a band exchange to Timmins found her covering Olivia Newton John’s “Let’s Get Physical” with an unknown Shania. Steph has been haunting rehearsal studios and live music venues ever since. In 2010, she moved to BC and has been passionately laying down the bass line with several bands in bars, festivals and private events around Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, but The FTones have been Steph’s home since 2017.
LIAM GREENBERG//guitar, keyboard, vocals
Liam is officially the youngest member of the band. "The Kid" is proud to debut his musical career with The FTones. Guided to a seat in front of a piano at age 4, it became apparent that while strings were definitely in the cards, amplification was too. Introduced to rock music by his uncles, Liam inadvertently picked up a guitar. Captivated by influences such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Steely Dan, he immediately fell in love. He tries to keep his musicality diverse, dabbling in piano, bass, and occasionally drums. Born at a convenient time digitally, Liam has been entirely self-taught for the past six years and is grateful for every second of his musical journey.
BRIAN CAMPBELL//drums, vocals
Brian has been active in music since the age of 18 when he first picked up a pair of drumsticks and decided to learn to play. After getting bored of drum lessons, he purchased every Rush CD that had ever been made up until that point and learned by learning (or attempting to learn!) all of Neil Peart’s drum parts. In the following years Brian honed his technique and became very active in live sound and theatrical technical performance, and played in several bands up until 2002, when he took time off to start and raise a family. Picking up the drums again in the mid 2010’s, he became involved in a couple of small casual projects, before settling into an original project in 2018. After answering a “random craigslist ad” in April 2024, and having been given a generous 24 hours to prepare six songs for the audition, Brian joined the F-Tones and is looking forward to holding down the beats for this awesome talented group of musicians!
SHAWNA PALMER//vocals, guitar
Shawna has been singing for as long as she’s been speaking. A natural-born musician, she began playing piano by ear at a young age before finding her home on acoustic guitar. Music became her language early on, and she carried that passion through school as a dedicated choir vocalist.
In 2017, Shawna stepped into the competitive music world, earning spots on major stages including the Rockin’ River Music Festival and traveling as far as Yangon, Myanmar to compete as Canada’s sole representative against 20 other countries. Her first band rooted her in country music, where she opened for artists such as Gord Bamford, Aaron Pritchett, and Tebey. She even found herself pulled onstage to sing at a Rascal Flatts concert.
While country shaped her beginnings, Shawna’s sound has evolved into an eclectic blend, recently gravitating toward the grit and soul of ’90s rock and grunge. Her signature style pairs dynamic, belting powerhouse vocals with the occasional raw, unexpected growl—a unique combination that sets her apart. Shawna continues to carve out her place as a versatile and fearless vocalist, bringing emotion, edge, and authenticity to every performance. As she steps into 2026, she channels her powerhouse energy into a new chapter as the latest vocalist for The F-Tones.
Additional booking notes
>As a 5 piece band with keys, we require a performance area of approximately 16'x20'.
>We require approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours for setup and sound check so would need access to the venue earlier in the day to accomplish that.
