The Flying Ivories performed for us during our school's recent social event, with a crowd of about 350, and I simply cannot recommend them highly enough. They were fabulous to work with leading up to the event, listened well, were responsive, and were completely self-sufficient setting everything up to look and sound great. They read the room beautifully, engaged with the crowd in just the right manner, and knew every song that was requested! They're so talented and made the night fun for everyone and unforgettable. We can't wait to have them back soon!

My fiance and I hired the Flying Ivories for our September 2018 wedding. We initially were trying to decide whether we wanted a DJ or a band. I randomly stumbled upon the idea of dueling pianos for a wedding - and I could NOT be more thrilled that I did.
I reached out to Ricky of the Flying Ivories and was impressed by him from the first email we exchanged. He is incredibly professional and prompt. He has an infectious enthusiasm and a way of making you feel very at ease. He was extremely patient in helping me figure out our needs. The Flying Ivories ultimately provided MC services, recorded music for our ceremony and dinner, live solo piano for our cocktail hour, and an incredible live 3 hour dueling piano show (2 pianists and a drummer). He patiently worked with me to ensure that we had all of our song selections and MC needs in order ahead of time. He was very meticulous in making sure everything was perfect, but was able to accommodate any changes I needed right up to the last minute.
I was initially nervous about dueling pianos as wedding entertainment. I was worried it was too non-traditional and I was praying that people would be into it. My anxiety was completely unfounded. If you have a crowd that loves to sing and dance and make requests, THE FLYING IVORIES ARE FOR YOU. My guests never left the dance floor and were constantly writing down songs requests. They guys read the crowd and played exactly the right music - filtering out bad requests and melding together songs. The next morning, everyone said that it was the best wedding entertainment they had ever seen. My wedding coordinator and photographer also both pulled me aside to say how impressed they were (high praise from people who see a lot of weddings!). My husband and I had an absolute blast and we spent the next week recapping all of our favorite moments on the dance floor.
I truly cannot sing the praises of the Flying Ivories enough. It was the best decision we made for our wedding. Hire them for your next event!!!

February 10, 2026High-Octane Energy – He Had Everyone From 25 to 80 Dancing!
Ricky was incredible to work with from start to finish. We originally wanted a full dueling pianos setup for our party, but during the planning process, Ricky advised me that a solo show would work better for our specific space, crowd, and overall goals. I really valued that honesty—he wasn’t trying to upsell me; he was trying to make sure the party was a success. It built a lot of trust. He was 100% right.
The performance itself was exactly what we wanted: upbeat, lively, and very interactive. He handled a room with ease and kept the energy high through a ton of different guest requests. I had so many people come up to me during the night asking how we found him and raving about how he brought their requests to life. He made the whole process easy and the party itself a blast. If you want someone you can trust to run the show while you enjoy your guests, Ricky is your guy. I will happily reach out to Ricky for future events!

The Flying Ivories Boston is led by Ricky Lauria, a powerhouse pianist, soulful vocalist, and natural crowd leader with deep roots in the New England music scene. Ricky began playing piano at age six in his hometown of Nashua, New Hampshire, and went on to perform with some of the region’s most in-demand bands, including Downtown Rhythm, Roundabout, Soulphonic, Honey Train, and Guilty Pleasure. Known for his warmth, versatility, and musical instincts, he has a rare ability to make every room feel connected from the first song to the last.
Based in Boston and traveling throughout New England and beyond, Ricky brings the Flying Ivories all-request piano experience to weddings, private celebrations, and corporate events of every size and style. Setup requirements
Dedicated 110 volt electrical supply in or near performance area
Our pianos have detachable legs and fit through any standard doorway. The dimensions of the piano shells sans legs are 30”W x 60”L X 10”H. They look like baby grands but are actually smaller.
Our stage area with two pianos and drums is roughly 8 x 12’ for a snug fit, and 10 x 14’ more comfortably. For our Gold and Platinum packages with 4-5 players, 10 x 16'.
