I contacted David in the Austin area after another vendor fell through - and needless to say, he was a lifesaver! Not only did he travel from Austin to San Antonio for the event, but he was also extremely patient while our in-house team approved the event contract. The event was stellar and everyone in our group loved the performance! David and Jesire did a great job of balancing the performance from the start of dinner to cocktails afterwards to ensure everyone had a great time! The music was great and David and Jesire were so easy to work with!

What to expect
A Flying Ivories performance is a high-energy, all-request singalong shaped entirely by your guests. Two seasoned performers arrive with pianos, microphones, and a repertoire of thousands of songs spanning rock, pop, country, Motown, Broadway, and more. Guests simply write down a request and place it on the piano, and our performers take it from there.
Because the audience drives the music, every show is different. We read the room, adjust in real time, and keep the energy exactly where it belongs—from laid-back and polished to upbeat and lively. Performers are thoughtfully matched to each event to ensure the right musical range, the right personality, and a smooth, professional experience from start to finish.
We also offer a solo all-request option, as well as a refined cocktail-hour style when you want music to elevate the atmosphere rather than take center stage. And because our performers are multi-instrumentalists, you can add drums, guitar, and more, creating the feel of a much larger band without the larger-band price tag.
About
The Flying Ivories Austin is helmed by David Lee, a play-it-by-ear dueling pianist with deep roots in Texas’s legendary piano-bar scene and the musical instincts to match. With musical lineage on both sides of his family—his grandmother played piano for silent films and his grandfather performed in the U.S. Navy band—David has logged his 10,000 hours at iconic venues like City Streets in Houston and Pete’s Piano Bar in Austin, along with stages across the country.
Based in Austin, David brings Flying Ivories’ all-request piano experience to weddings, corporate events, private parties, and destination celebrations throughout Texas and beyond. His shows are fast, interactive, and deeply musical, driven by a massive repertoire, sharp crowd awareness, and the rare ability to play entirely by ear.
David also curates and leads a top-tier Austin roster of Flying Ivories performers, delivering polished, high-energy shows that flex effortlessly between refined and full-throttle. With David at the keys, you’re not just booking dueling pianos—you’re booking live-music chops with real Austin cred.

Setup requirements
Dedicated 110 volt electrical supply in or near performance area.
Our pianos have detachable legs and fit through any standard doorway. The dimensions of the piano shells sans legs are 30”W x 60”L X 10”H. They look like baby grands but are actually smaller.
Our stage area with two pianos and drums is roughly 8 x 12’ for a snug fit, and 10 x 14’ more comfortably. For our Gold and Platinum packages with 4-5 players, 10 x 16'.
