The Erin Fox Duo

Erin and Mike will arrive for setup approximately 20-30 minutes prior to the event (earlier if desired by client). Then just sit back and enjoy as the vocal/piano jazz duo provides you with an intimate and relaxed performance of swinging upbeat jazz standards, ballads, and a few Latin grooves. You'll have a swing in your step and a smile on your face when they're finished!

Erin Fox started to love jazz at age 16, after being offered a full vocal jazz scholarship for the Aquinas College Jazz camp when spotted singing with her high school's jazz band at a state competition. She went on to perform as the vocalist of the Alma College Jazz Ensemble during her four years as an undergrad. After getting her M.A. in Communication at Central Michigan University and teaching college communication classes for a decade or so, she moved from Michigan to Kansas, where her performance career blossomed! Erin gave up teaching to sing and act full time. She has performed in hundreds of jazz concerts and cabaret shows, has played numerous lead roles in Topeka and Lawrence area community musical theatre, has performed in several professional Kansas City shows, and has performed in murder mysteries and USO shows on the Kansas Belle Dinner Train, on the Abilene and Smokey Valley Railroad, and at corporate events for over the past decade.

Mike Shurtz began his jazz career while attending the University of Kansas, playing house parties in trios and quintets. After graduation he joined a quintet called the Harry Winter's Combo, regularly gigging in the Lawrence and eastern Kansas area and performing as the house band for the Adams Alumni Center at KU for several years. For the past 15 years, he's played regularly at the Lawrence Country Club and at local restaurants in his hometown of Lawrence, KS.

Erin and Mike have been performing jazz together since 2013!

The Erin Fox Duo provides their own equipment (keyboard, music stands, mic, and amp) and set up. Set up typically takes less than 30 minutes.
