Considered by many to be one of Austin’s most versatile rock cover bands, The Clutch Kings are right at home playing a down town Austin club, a Texas Hill Country resort, private parties, car shows or even big loud UT Texas tailgates. They can also play both electric and smaller stripped down shows perfect for pool parties, backyard parties or corporate office parties.
They always put on a great show and can play from 1-4 hours’ worth of rock covers with a few country and blues tunes thrown in to keep the beer flowing and the party going.
The Clutch Kings came out and performed at the Coupland Dance Hall. They were a big hit among us car enthusiast. Michael Tarsha did a superb job communicating with me and the owner of the venue. I highly recommend them.
Once again, Austin's own, The Clutch Kings, succeeded to deliver a stellar performance at The Red Eyed Fly on a Friday Night in the lounge. The guys killed it on a show that belies the fact that there was no cover charged at the door. These guys did a kick ass set for the public with no charge at the door. That doesn't just happen in Austin everyday. This high energy rock band knocked the doors down and tore the roof off like they always do at The Red Eyed Fly. Very professional and generally a lot of fun. Can't wait to see them on Friday October 24th at 9pm when they do it once again at The Red Eyed Fly in the lounge.

What to Expect
The Clutch Kings pride themselves on being able to play a large variety of venues. The band is comfortable playing a Texas Hill Country Ice House, backyard private parties or full club gigs. They have a knack for mixing their original rock tunes with some of your favorite classic rock covers.
The Clutch Kings hail from Austin, TX and are everything the band’s name suggests. They pack the big Texas rock sound in the classic 2 guitars, bass and drums format. Upfront vocals, slippery blues guitar runs, chugging bass grooves, and pocket heavy drums are the order of the day here.
Considered by many to be one of Austin’s most versatile bands, The Clutch Kings are as comfortable playing their favorite down town Austin rock club as they are jamming out at UT Texas tailgate parties. They mix originals with some of their favorite rock covers from bands like The Black Crowes, The Rolling Stones etc.
The band was formed in 2011 when longtime friends Kory Brown (lead guitarist for the Bitter Angels) and Michael Tarsha (bass guitarist for AudioLight) were playing the same bill and noticed that the opening band had cancelled. Not wanting to let the audience or club owner down, Kory and Michael put together a quick 45 minute set within just a few days, called in a favor with a local drummer and named themselves The Clutch Kings. What started out as a challenge and one time gig to play some of their favorite cover tunes quickly turned into more than they expected when the club asked them back to headline more shows. More clubs caught the Clutch Kings vibe and gigs started to pile up.
The next major event in The Clutch Kings history occurred when legendary blues guitarist Hans Alehag (formerly of the Billy Joe Shaver band) started sitting in at gigs and their local jam sessions. Hans provided the perfect balance for the band with his soaring lead guitar lines.
With a full line up audiences began asking for more and more shows and the band quickly moved into writing and recording mode and what emerged were the first batch of Clutch Kings originals. Songs that allow them to explore their Texas roots with titles like “Straight to Your Soul”, “Shackles and Bones”, and “Empty Like You.”
The Clutch Kings continue on to this day juggling a healthy mix of gigs, studio work, benefit shows, UT Texas tailgate performances and of course private parties. Look for their first EP out later this year.
