Overview
The Boston HarpBeat is a high-energy instrumental cover band comprised of harpist Shelley Otis, violinist Cami Duncan, bassist Richard Gates, and percussionist Fabio Pirozzolo. Our music spans the gap between classical and rock: we are simultaneously elegant and upbeat, and will get guests dancing! We enjoy pushing the boundaries of our instruments, and our music is a proven crowd-pleaser.
We have experience with events from all types, from large corporate events with over 2000 attendees, to small intimate weddings. We know what to do to make your event planning easy!
We are available as a quartet, trio, duo, or solo harp.

Shelley and her musicians were AMAZING to work with leading up to the event as well as on the day! They opened our deck series and it was chilly but they had an amazing, can do attitude and crushed it! I would highly recommend them any day in all scenarios. Fabulous from start to finish!
Cover Band
My first experience with Boston HarpBeat was a wonderful video that percussionist Fabio Pirozzolo and harpist Shelley Otis produced for the Friends of the Robbins Library during the Covid-19 pandemic. The duo had been scheduled to perform for our Sunday afternoon Reading Room Concert Series at the Library, but rather than disappoint our audience, we were able to stream their video instead. Ever since then I have wanted to have them back for a live performance and was thrilled to be able to book not just Fabio and Shelley, but the entire quartet including violinist Cami Sylvia and bassist Richard Gates. What an amazingly talented ensemble! Their music was a delightful blend of traditional pieces from different periods and cultures, with creative covers (Taylor Swift!) and original compositions. They mixed instrumentals and vocals, fast-paced and melodic to keep the audience of all ages completely enthralled. We can’t wait to have them back!

Shelley Otis and her group provided the most beautiful and serene experience for our gala of more than 300 people. The touch of elegance added immensely to our event. Shelley was so easy to work with, accommodating and gracious. I recommend this group without hesitation!!!! Outstanding.

The Boston HarpBeats were perfect for our recent fundraising gala! They played beautiful instrumental arrangements of anything from pop favorites to Beatles and jazz standards. Shelley's harp playing was gorgeous, and rounded out with fantastic percussion and bass. Shelley Otis, Richard Gates and Fabio Pirozzolo are highly sought-after musicians in the Greater Boston area and we were very lucky to have had them at our party! Not only did they provide the perfect, unique entertainment, but they arrived early for set-up, were collaborative in figuring out the best placement for the band at the event, made sure to communicate with the organizers to set the volume at a level comfortable for everyone, brought a wireless mike for the announcers and auctioneer to use at the event, and allowed us to amplify our video presentation through their system. They were simply excellent people to hang out with at the event! Thank you, HarpBeat, for a wonderful evening, we so appreciated having you there, you made the event so special!

I cannot recommend Boston HarpBeats enough — they were absolutely one of the best parts of our wedding. We knew we wanted music that blended our personalities and cultures, and we found the perfect mix in Shelley’s harp and Fabio’s cajón/percussion. They played a unique and fun combination of Latin and pop music throughout our festivities - guests loved recognizing the songs being played in a totally new format and dancing along! Shelley and Fabio also learned how to play two songs just for our ceremony music: Dos Orgullitas from the Encanto soundtrack and Back Pocket by Vulfpeck. We were floored by how amazing they made the songs sound on the harp and cajón, even while playing outside in the winter! We couldn’t have asked for a better team of musicians. Shelley was absolutely amazing for our wedding! She played for our cocktail hour and ceremony and her music was the perfect touch for our garden wedding. Our guests were blown away by the beautiful music she played on her Harp and it made for the most perfect ambiance. She was so wonderful to work with and nailed every part of the planning we discussed. Her music really took our wedding to the next level and we could not recommend Shelley more!
