The Alan Davis Trio

The trio presents a unique sound which combines classic jazz repertoire with foot-tapping takes on more contemporary blues and popular songs.

At the heart of the trio is a Crumar "Mojo" organ, a modern Italian instrument that faithfully recreates the rich tone and wide expressive range of the legendary Hammond organ. It's the quintessential jazz organ sound made famous by greats like Jimmy Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Jimmy McGriff, and Richard "Groove" Holmes. Paired with swinging guitar and a steady, responsive groove on drums, the organ trio format delivers a full, rich sound that fills a room without overwhelming it.

The trio's repertoire draws on jazz standards and popular music, built over the band members' many years of playing for audiences of every kind. Whether you want relaxed background music for a cocktail hour or an energetic set that gets people moving, the trio reads the room and sets the right mood.

MEET THE BAND

Alan Davis Jr. – Organ/Piano
Born in London, England, Alan comes from a family of entertainers. His father was a gifted pianist who played on the radio during World War II, and his mother was a contortionist and one half of a "yoga act." Alan started on flute, then moved to saxophone as his main instrument, playing with a big band in England. His musical career began in earnest when he was accepted into the British Parachute Regiment as a bandsman.

After serving his "apprenticeship" playing clubs and functions around London, Alan went on to work on ferries leaving England, did session work in recording studios, and then moved to cruise ships with a cruise line based in Piraeus, Greece. In 1986 he switched to piano and keyboards full time. Over the next twelve years he performed on cruise lines throughout the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Baltic, with many trips to America along the way. Between cruise contracts, he took hotel residencies abroad, including a long engagement at the Forte Grand Pyramids hotel in Giza, Egypt.

Today Alan lives in the mountain town of Suches, Georgia, where he enjoys riding motorcycles, hiking with his border collie Abbie, and photographing the North Georgia scenery.

Ken Silverman – Guitar
Ken hails from the Bronx, New York. By day, he is a scientist-engineer who designs medical devices and packaging, with much of his career dedicated to fighting cancer and managing autoimmune diseases. Music has been his lifelong passion. Ken minored in music in college and studied jazz improvisation privately with Michael Fitzgerald, Chris Jentsch, Guy Capuzzo, and Dave Frackenpohl. His influences include Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Raney, Pat Martino, Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, and Joe Pass. While he strives to speak the bebop language authentically, he believes in honoring the masters not by walking in their footsteps but by seeking what they sought. The result is deeply emotive playing with a voice all his own.

Bob Tewksbury – Drums
A lifelong musician with rhythm in his soul, Bob has been a passionate drummer since his early years growing up in New York's Southern Tier. With over 25 years of experience performing in Atlanta's vibrant music scene, he brings a seasoned, dynamic presence to the stage. Originally rooted in rock and country, his deep love of jazz led him to join the trio, where his expressive style and steady groove shine in every performance. Bob lives in Cumming, Georgia, with Kimberly, his wife of 35 years, and continues to find joy in making music that moves people.

We are fully self-contained for small to medium venues. For larger venues we are happy to work with sound staff there.

The stage should be a minimum area of roughly 9' by 5'.
