When you book Tate Gifford, you get a solo acoustic performance with live vocals and guitar, with a warm, polished sound that fits naturally into your event. Guests will see a relaxed, friendly performer who connects with the room, whether they’re gathered close for a ceremony or mingling over drinks.

What you’ll see and hear:
Songs people know and love, like Beatles, Jack Johnson, and Ben E. King favorites, along with folk, indie, and pop selections, played with an acoustic fingerstyle touch. I can also include original songs if you’d like something more personal.

A set list planned around your event, including requests, a first dance, or a song that means something to you.
And the live music is suited to your timeline, whether that’s a ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, dinner, or the whole event

I’m Tate Gifford, a Utah-based singer-songwriter and live acoustic performer bringing warm, polished music to weddings, private parties, corporate events, and gallery and community gatherings across Utah, Idaho, Arizona, and Colorado.

I blend folk, indie, pop, and acoustic fingerstyle guitar into a sound that feels personal and easy to enjoy, whether guests are listening closely or mingling in the background. My sets include songs everyone knows, like “Yesterday,” “Stand By Me,” “Angel,” and many more, along with my own original music and I’m happy to build a set list around your event’s vibe, your first dance, or a song that means something to you.

I’ve performed everywhere from intimate rooms to art gallery events with a live crowd, and I bring the same professionalism to each one: I show up early, communicate clearly, bring my own professional & portable sound equipment, and adapt the music to fit your moment, from a quiet ceremony to a lively cocktail hour.

What I bring:
Acoustic guitar and live vocals (solo performance)
Battery-powered vocal and guitar amp PA speaker, suitable for crowds of up to about 150 guests
Audio-Technica vocal microphone, mic stand with iPad music stand attachment, XLR cable, and guitar cable
Guitar hardcase

If your venue or event planner has a sound system they’d prefer I use, I’m happy to plug into it. Just let me know ahead of time.

Space and power:
A performance area of about 5 ft by 5 ft
A power outlet is optional, since my full setup is battery powered
For outdoor events, shade or a canopy is required to protect my equipment and instruments, especially in case of bad weather
Access to water for refilling water bottles throughout the event (indoor and outdoor)

Setup and sound check:
Setup typically takes 10 to 15 minutes
Sound check takes about 5 to 8 minutes
For ceremonies, I’ll need access to the space beforehand so I can confirm where you’d like me to set up and be fully prepared and ready on time

Lighting and staging:
No special lighting or staging is required. I just need enough light to see my surroundings and my music, and enough on my face if a videographer will be recording.
A videographer may occasionally record parts of my performance, and only with the event organizer’s permission.

Set lengths:
Ceremony and cocktail sets: 60 minutes to 2 hours
Receptions: 30 minutes to 2 hours
I typically take one 10 to 15 minute break
Continuous background music is available for longer events, up to 4 hours

Song requests and content:
Please send song requests 2 to 3 weeks before your event, since they can affect the timeline I build for your set.
At the event, I bring small scannable QR codes so guests can request songs from a curated list of songs I already know.
All of my sets are family-friendly. I don’t play songs with excessive swearing, explicit language, or political or profane themes. If a song has an occasional word that’s easy to swap out, I’m happy to censor it. And I never play “Wonderwall.”

Travel:
Based in Utah. I travel up to 200 miles within Utah and am available for events nationwide.
Travel-related costs (mileage, lodging, and meals) are billed in addition to the performance fee.

What I need from the venue or client:
A reserved parking spot as close to the event as possible for loading and unloading my equipment
Load-in access to the performance area
A meal is not required, but it’s always appreciated

Booking and payment:
Please book 2 to 3 months in advance. My calendar fills quickly, and the lead time lets me plan travel without conflicts.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date.
Payments are handled through BookLive ((link hidden)), which is partnered with Stripe.
The remaining balance is due [14] days before the event.

Cancellation and rescheduling:
The deposit is non-refundable.
If you need to move your date, I’ll gladly reschedule once at no extra charge when you give at least [30] days’ notice, subject to my availability. The deposit carries over to the new date.
Cancellations made [30 or more] days before the event forfeit the deposit only. Cancellations made less than [30] days before the event or in the rare case of day of or before cancelations, are responsible for the full performance fee, since the date can’t be rebooked on short notice.
Travel, lodging, or other costs I’ve already booked for your event are non-refundable.
If I need to cancel for any reason, I’ll refund your deposit in full and do my best to help you find a replacement performer.

Communication:
If anything is unclear as your event approaches, I’ll always ask questions ahead of time so your event runs smoothly. And the same will go to you should you have any questions or concerns
