I arrive 15 minutes before start time to meet hosts and set up the reading space. Set up takes five minutes, often just collecting a table and a couple chairs (I can bring my own folding chairs if necessary, but for accessibility reasons I try to not sit on the floor).
As the event unfolds, people approach me and I read with them one by one, for about 3-10 minutes each, until my 2-4 hours is up. For shifts 3-4 hours, I take a 15 minute break, otherwise do not leave the reading space.
I've read in private spaces, and I've also read in the corner of loud busy rooms. While I prefer more silence and privacy, depending on the vibe of the event, sometimes the corner of a busy room can be appropriate (especially for shorter 2 hour shifts), so I'm open to this spectrum of working conditions.
Once my shift is done, I check in with the host before leaving to make sure everything is in order and they know I've left.

A small table, two chairs, and a quiet corner or side room is ideal. I have a conversation with each person, so being able to hear each other is important. Bonus points if there is a private space for me to read with guests.
