Jeff Sterling..a professional Caricaturist Artist for more than 40 years has a friendly, outgoing Personality. He loves inter-acting with guests..and can converse in basic conversational Spanish and French. He is studying Italian, Brazilian, Portuguese..and 'refreshing' his skills speaking basic Japanese..which he learned 25 years ago!!
His drawings are created in markers..either black & gray or full color and he 'tries' to portray his 'subjects' in a 'flattering manner!!' He 'loves' an audience..and guests are welcome to watch him create a caricature!
- Update: 2023: Digital Caricatures are also available. Drawn with an Apple Pencil on Jeff's iPad. the art can be projected onto a big screen monitor as the drawing 'comes to life.' A 4 inch X 6 inch laminated print can be created on site or Jeff can e-mail the art and you can use the picture for any reason, including business cards and self promotions! Digital Art is becoming very popular at major corporate events and conventions! Jeff gets booked as far away as his hometown of Philadelphia.
While drawing, Jeff likes to converse on a variety of topics and is very good at Jeopardy style 'trivia' (except Shakespeare, novels, constellations and obscure authors).
-An FAA Licensed Private Pilot since 1987 Jeff is the father of 2 daughters including a Child Abuse Attorney, An Emergency Room Physician and his son is one of the Miami area's top Commercial Realtors.
About
Jeff Sterling has entertained at gigs and has drawn 1000's of faces since the 1980's.. This very dependable professional Caricature artist has a quick wit..and an outgoing, friendly personality. A Licensed Private Pilot since October 1987,he is always on the go..traveling several times a year to many corporate and private functions (He speaks basic 'conversational French..And Spanish..and some Japanese,Brazilian Portuguese and Italian).
Drawing caricatures since the age of 12 in the 7th grade at his Junior High School in Philadelphia. His fellow students would 'howl' at his quick sketches of the teachers..and when he entered High School..he was named Art Editor of his school newspaper while only in the 9th grade.
Sylvester Stallone lived a few blocks away in Northeast Philadelphia and attended the same High School although he is a few years older than Jeff. As a senior in high school..Jeff was named Art Editor of his senior class Yearbook..where he drew dozens of pen and ink caricatures of fellow students and teachers.
During college Jeff was a popular Editorial Cartoonist (Nixon was President) and he obtained Degrees in Art and Business Administration). One of his older classmates in English Comp his Freshman year in Philadelphia was Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates. After college Jeff became Art Director at an Advertising Agency in Philadelphia..and eventually moved to bigger and better opportunities...culminating with being named Director of Advertising at the Suburban Newspaper Group..10 weekly South Jersey publications..formerly based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey..owned by Gannett Corporation...parent company of USA Today.
The father of 3 adult children, Jeff moved to southeast Florida September 2004...from the Philadelphia-South Jersey & Wilmington, Delaware area, where he still has property. On a personal note, Jeff's middle daughter is an Emergency Room Physician. His oldest daughter, who was an Investigator/Supervisor with Broward Sheriff's Office, graduated near the top of her class in Law School, May 2010 with a specialty in Family Law. She is a partner in a Fort Lauderdale area Law Firm specializing in protecting abused, neglected and at risk children. His son sells Commercial Real Estate (Shopping Centers and Storage Centers) from Miami to Tampa. He lives in the Coral Springs area of Broward County, FL.
Additional booking notes
I normally draw the caricatures..'Face & Shoulders'..on acid free,white,'index card stock' (don't worry..that is a heavy paper..not index cards with lines (LOL).
I use black & gray markers and graphite or shading. Each completed caricatures is placed in a clear,heavy gauge plastic 'zip-lock' type bag for protection. An 'average' caricature of 'face & shoulders' takes about 5 minutes. Often..especially at Weddings..and large parties..couples like to be drawn together..so 2 people takes between 10 to 12 minutes.
Although I have an easel..it is best to have a small table for me to keep my art supplies handy..as well as 3 chairs..and good lighting....and/or nearby electrical outlet for my portable lighting.
I try to arrive about 30 minutes ahead of official 'start' time to set up my 'station'..easel & art supplies. You Are Not charged for the early arrival..or set up.

Influences and inspiration
I enjoyed Mort Drucker and the other artists from Mad Magazine. In high school in Philadelphia..I was Art Editor of both our school newspaper..and in my senior year..I was named Art Editor of the Yearbook..so I had to create some very humorous caricatures of graduation students..and teachers!
