November 4, 2025I can NOT recommend Mr. Cyprian enough!!! He is truly amazing! Not only is he an exceptionally skilled musician, but he has an incredible heart!!! I was looking for a different element for my mother’s homegoing celebration and thought it would be great to add a saxophone 🎷 player. After finding Will on GigSalad, I prayed that he would help me, as his resume is stellar. Once we connected via phone, Will immediately put my mind at ease. He was in Michigan, the funeral was in Cleveland, Ohio-and he was willing to travel. I suddenly learned that Mr. Cyprian was also a phenomenal music producer, and he produced the track for the soloist to sing over and worked with her remotely to create a flawless performance. At my mother’s gravesite, Will played the Lord’s
Prayer and while he ran into an unexpected incident, he was calm, cool, and collected. At her repass, he played soft jazz on his sax, and music as the attendees ate. Overall, I had many compliments on his performance and the elegance and professionalism that he displayed throughout. I can not recommend Will Cyprian enough. Will blessed my life and the homegoing celebration of my mother. He’s phenomenal!!! Hands Down! Thanks Will for your kindness, professionalism, and for sharing your incredible talent with us. He has played at many of the notable venues around Metro-Detroit including historic Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, Aretha’s Jazz Café at The Music Hall, Bert’s Motown Room, Campus Martius Park, The Phoenix Center Amphitheater, Square, The Strand Theater & The Hard Rock Cafe. William attended the Chicago College for the Performing
Arts at Roosevelt University where he majored in Music Performance and Education. He played the sax in multiple bands and mastered the intricacies of his instrument.
After graduating he began playing at various churches to gain performance experience. That led to songwriting, music production and engineering. In the years following, he would write and record several songs and master the features of Logic, Pro Tools and Reason software. It was just the beginning.
William produced the single, “Todo Pari Ti”, for Australian artist, Max Leon. He arranged the singles “In Time” and “Runaway” for Maggie Cocco. He composed the Original Soundtrack for the television series, “Modos: The Prophecy Armageddon”. And he served as music composer for the Short Films, “Day Date” and “Nocturnal Love”.
As a studio musician, he backed artists Darrick and Ryan Rutley, Maggie Cocco and Derrick Brinkley, Jibs Brown and Melanie Rutherford. On stage, he’s played for “On One Accord”, “The Maggie Cocco Band” Jibs Brown and the Jambros, multi award winning international blues recording artists Thornetta Davis and Eliza Neals, the Detroit Music Award Nominated Wolf and the Crane, and the Detroit Super Band that was featured for The Tribute to Aretha Franklin during the inaugural Detroit Music Weekend and The People’s Tribute to Aretha which was the concert before Aretha Franklin’s Funeral. He was also a part of the Motown Honors 60 year anniversary celebration.
As a Musical Director and producer, perhaps William’s greatest skill is being able to identify and attract top musical talent – and then give them the musical freedom to express their individuality within the context of the group. Structure with flexibility. The result is a mix of cohesion and creativity that produces a wonderful experience for the (link hidden)l of this shows as the Musical Director for Melanie Rutherford and Phat Greasy, as well as his personal band "The Will Cyprian Experience.
William Cyprian has been a musician, writer, composer, arranger, and band leader.
