Susan Townsend
Overview
26 years of teaching, authorship, and consulting taught me how to hold any room. That skill travels.
As a veteran educator and founder of Turning Stones Life Coaching, I help high-achieving women recover from burnout and reclaim their unique identities through my STONES Framework. My background includes a master's in Rhetoric and Argumentation and national consulting with NMSI and the College Board.
I keynote women's conferences, lead professional development for educators, and speak to civic and faith-based groups. Your attendees walk out with tools they can use the next morning, not inspiration they'll forget by lunch.
Book me if you want polished, practical, and real.

About
I spent twenty-five years in the classroom before I ever stood on a stage, and that skill set travels quite well. Teachers learn to read a room in seconds, hold attention without gimmicks, and leave people with something they can actually use. I bring all of that to every event I speak at.
I'm a 27 year veteran educator of highschool and college level courses. I currently serve as a gifted education facilitator, and am the founder of Turning Stones Life Coaching, where I work with high-achieving women who are running on empty. My signature talks center on resilience, motivation, burnout recovery and identity reclamation through my proprietary STONES Framework, a six-step process that helps overwhelmed professionals stop performing for everyone else and start building lives with room for themselves in them.
My background includes a master's degree in Rhetoric and Argumentation, eight years as an AP Essay Rater, and national consulting work with NMSI and the College Board, so I'm equally at home keynoting a women's conference, leading professional development for educators, or speaking to civic and faith-based groups.
Audiences tell me the same thing again and again: they came expecting a talk and left with a plan. I don't do vague inspiration. Every session includes concrete tools your attendees can put to work the next morning, delivered with warmth, humor, and the hard-won honesty of someone who has lived the challenges of full time caregiver, bankruptcy, subsequent widowhood and burnout associated with my struggles. And now, I help others escape. Just as I have.
If you want a speaker who is polished, practical, and genuinely present with your audience, I'd love to be part of your event.

Influences and inspiration
I've watched high-achieving women flinch when someone asks what they want instead of what's expected of them. Twenty-five years in education and consulting taught me that silence in a room is rarely peaceful. Usually it means everyone is bracing for the next demand and begins to sound like a meeting that could have been an email.
I talk about burnout the way it actually feels, like 11:57 p.m. on a Sunday night with an alarm you already dread. Then I hand your audience an activity or strategy from my STONES Framework, and give them steps that turn that dread into a plan they can start building the next morning.
My style borrows Brené Brown's honesty, Mel Robbins straight forward points and a standup comic's timing. Your attendees leave with something they can use, not a folder of notes or a motivational quote they forget by lunch.
