Surayah grew up learning first-hand the fundamental skills needed to perform and teach her passion to others. By the age of four she began her formal dance training, and by the early age of twelve, Surayah started her professional career as a performer and was hired to perform in front of live audiences at weddings, concerts, and cultural events.
The intense drive she has to succeed fuels Surayah's spirit and inspires her audiences, students and dance company performers. She has studied Classical Ballet, Jazz, Character, Tap, and Ballroom dance. Recognized schools she has trained with include Chicago City Ballet Company, Ellis-DuBoulay Ballet, and Lou Co
nte/Hubbard Street Dance.
She also had the opportunity to live in Cairo, Egypt. There she intensely studied the Arabic language and multiple styles of Egyptian folk dance. In Egypt she developed a deeper understanding of her roots and her love and passion for Arabic dance and music. She is fortunate to have been able to study with Egyptian dance masters such as Mahmoud Reda, Farida Fahmi, Tito Seif, Osama Emam, and Khaled Mahmoud in Cairo.
