Stonewall Flutes of the Shenandoah

Overview

We are a flute choir made up of 16 flutists who play all range of flutes, including the piccolo, C flute, alto flute, and bass flute. We will play for any event, such as church services, background music for luncheons/fundraising, weddings, funerals, and any other special event as needed. Because we are a subset of the Stonewall Brigade Band, all proceeds earned from our performances are donated to the Stonewall Brigade Band, which is the oldest-continuous community band in the nation.

What to expect

The Stonewall Flutes of the Shenandoah will provide an entertaining hour or two of flute choir music of your choosing. Holiday, religious, or just plain fun...the flute choir will deliver music that an audience will truly enjoy.
The flutists provide their own stands, but a few chairs may be required. If the venue is large, a microphone may be needed, as each selection is given an introduction. Each flute type is introduced.

About

The Stonewall Flutes of the Shenandoah consists mostly, but not entirely, of members of the acclaimed Stonewall Brigade Band in Staunton, VA. The ensemble was formed in 2000 with 8 members and has grown to more than 16 in 2015. Many members play all four types of flutes: piccolo, C flute, alto flute, and bass flute.
The music performed by the flute choir is varied and can be adapted/arranged to suit any event.
The director of the choir is Pamela Mason, a seasoned director of bands, orchestras and choirs for more than 45 years. Ms. Mason holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University and a Master's degree from FSU in educational leadership.
