Easy to listen to, hard to define, singer-songwriter Stesha Cano has been making music in multiple genres since she stepped on the scene in 2005. Whether she’s singing jazz standards, roots and r&b or contemporary soul, Stesha breathes life into every syllable. She’ll take a song you’ve heard a hundred times and stretch it in new directions – maybe the groove has changed, or the inflection of phrase, an edge that wasn’t there in the original. About
Stesha has released two full-length recordings of her original material: Like a Bee (2011), and Simple as Everything (2013); she is currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on her third album For Greyson, due for release in May of 2016, which will consist of a mix of folk classics and traditions as well as original works.
On the heels of her recent nomination for the New England Music Awards "Female Performer of the Year" you can expect to see Stesha Cano and her band touring regionally with many live performances and showcases in the coming months.
Cano's writing is very much inspired by nature and is rich with deep lyrical content. Offering unique arrangements, fresh takes on classic styles and strong performance skills, Stesha Cano and her band lead their audiences on a journey through time. Mixing elements of traditional roots music with an ever present contemporary soul undertone, this makes for an exciting and nostalgic listening experience.
