What to expect

As part of my services, I create beautiful custom violin and piano arrangements of any song you choose, making your favorite music a personal part of your celebration.

You can expect expressive live violin accompanied by piano backing tracks I create, with music tailored to each part of your event. From romantic ceremony music to upbeat pop and rock covers during cocktail hour, I’ll help create an atmosphere that feels personal and keeps your guests engaged.

Before your event, we’ll talk through your musical preferences, special requests, and timeline. I’m happy to help you choose songs for key moments and coordinate with your planner or venue so that the music fits naturally into the day.

My repertoire ranges from classical pieces and timeless love songs to ’70s and ’80s favorites and modern hits. Whether you want an elegant background soundtrack or a lively performance featuring songs everyone recognizes, I’ll shape the set around your vision.

As an Emmy Award–winning musician who has performed at dozens of weddings around Los Angeles, I bring years of professional experience and close attention to detail. My goal is to make the music an easy, enjoyable part of planning—and one of the parts of your celebration you and your guests remember.

About

I'm Stephen Spies, an Emmy Award–winning musician based in Redondo Beach. I've been playing violin since I was five, studied music at UCLA, and have performed at dozens of weddings throughout Los Angeles. I love helping couples find the music that feels like them—from a meaningful walk down the aisle to a joyful ceremony send-off and a lively cocktail hour.

My musical background brings together classical training and a love of pop, rock, film music, and unexpected covers. Whether you're drawn to timeless wedding favorites, romantic ballads, ’70s and ’80s classics, or the songs you grew up singing along to, my goal is to bring personality and warmth to your celebration.

Having played so many weddings, I understand how much the little details matter—the timing of an entrance, the energy as you walk back down the aisle together, and the atmosphere as your guests gather. I bring care, musical versatility, and years of professional experience to every performance, with the goal of making your day feel personal, relaxed, and full of music you love.

Additional booking notes

I bring all of my own performance equipment, including my violin, a speaker for piano accompaniment playback, and amplification for my violin when needed. I’ll coordinate with you or your venue ahead of time to confirm the setup location, power access, and any sound requirements.

If you’re interested in additional services, I can also help with sound for your ceremony and music playback throughout the rest of your wedding. For dancing, I offer a DJ and live violin option, playing along with a playlist of your favorite songs to bring extra energy to the dance floor.

Let me know what you have in mind, and we can discuss the right setup and coverage for your event.

Set list

Every set is tailored to your event, and I create custom violin and piano arrangements of any song you choose. Here’s a sample of the music available—from wedding classics to pop punk, indie, and dance favorites!
