A modern horn band that performs music in the styles of Chicago, Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire, U2, and many others. You will recognize the sounds of many popular songs, but will be worshipping to hymns, praise & worship, gospel and contemporary Christian music. An experience you will not forget!
Very professional with an amazing sound!
Response from Steel City Sound:
Thanks Brandon for the opportunity to further the education of jazz music. We really enjoyed it and look forward to next time!
I had the privilege of seeing Terry Webster and Steel City Sound at an outside event " Founders Day " on 8/23/14. using old Gospel favorites in a style all Their own using musical arrangements from earlier decades which adds a nice twist. They allowed me to video since this was a public event and i have one of my favorites from that day " Shouting Time " on my mp3 player .I would recommend to anyone to see them in concert.. I hope to see Them perform again in the future..
Response from Steel City Sound:
Thanks Rodger! Hope to see you again at Fultondale Founders Day this fall. We will be featuring an all new project called Retro Hymns 2 (from Jeff Anderson of AnderKamp Music).
Steel City Sound has been the official band/orchestra for the AMG Heritage Awards for the past five years. It is always a thrill to see them pull into the venue because everyone is sure to have a great time with them. We use this band/orchestra to supply our legends such as Chubby Checker, Gloria Gaynor, Dee Dee Sharp, Melba Moore, Shirley Caesar and myself with a wonderful and clear sound that they demand. Steel City Sound has a wonderful leader in Terry Webster who has devoted himself to making sure the group not only performs at its peek, but also presents itself publicly as the professionals they are. When you have a production as large as the AMG Heritage Awards airing into 17 million homes across the country and abroad you cannot afford to take any chances on a second rate group. Fortunately that is something we never have to worry about with Steel City Sound. As an adamant professional myself, I require the best, so, therefore I can assure anyone looking for the best, they should look no further than Steel City Sound.
Response from Steel City Sound:
David, thank you so much! We are absolutely honored and enjoy being a part of the Artists Music Guild and the AMG Heritage Awards each year! Looking forward to another great year this year. See you soon!
I had a chance to hear Steel City Sound at a church picnic. I can honestly say as a fan of both jazz and R&B music I have never heard anything like them. Throw in the fact that their combination of traditional hymn songs with the rhythm of some of the most popular Motown classics make them the best band to book for your church or community event.
Response from Steel City Sound:
Thanks Kevin for the kind comments. It was great to see you at the event and hope to see you again this year!
I am excited to commend Terry Webster and Steel City Sound. We used them last year in our annual "Bash in the Bend" which is a free outdoor block party type event our church hosts. They are easy to work with, and have an incredible sound that made them ideal for our venue. We were so please that we have invited them back to join our party again this summer.
Response from Steel City Sound:
Thank you so much for this review. It was an absolute pleasure working with you and Riddle's Bend Church. We are really looking forward to serving with you all again this year.

Steel City Sound provides a typical concert experience. The great thing about our band is that all of the music is performed by live professional musicians. The horn section will be everywhere from smooth like Chicago to brassy in your face sounds like Tower of Power. The music is unique in that it offers sounds of horn bands from the past mixed with hymns, praise & worship and other Christian songs to create a style of its own. Although most of our music is instrumental, you will catch yourself tapping your toes, clapping and singing along to familiar songs. We have a Friends set as well that features singers and guest musicians.
We do provide our own products to sell. Anything like CDs, posters, magnets, bracelets and shirts.
We offer a meet and greet before the show as well as a presentation for your media computers that introduces each member of the band and a little information about them.
Steel City Sound was formed in 2013. The band consists of 11 musicians (3 trumpets, trombone, alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax, keyboards, electric guitar, bass guitar and drums) that perform hymns, praise & worship and other familiar Christian songs with influences of horn bands like Chicago, Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder and many others. All the musicians are Christians that actively serve in music ministries at their own churches all of the Birmingham, Alabama area. We also feature special guests on our concerts. These guests are singers and other instrumentalists.
Steel City Sound has their own sound equipment and engineer. We can either provide full front of house for small to medium venues or interface our sound system into your equipment for all sizes.
