Chad Floyd, a professional steel drummer with over 30 years of experience, delivers the vibrant sounds of the islands to weddings, private parties, corporate events, and more.

Chad is a seasoned performer and percussion professor at Campbellsville University, where he leads the percussion ensemble, steel band, and drumline. His music career has taken him across the globe, performing in the U.S., Brazil, Japan, Trinidad, China, South Korea, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic. Whether solo or with a group, Chad brings authenticity, energy, and professionalism to every performance.

He has played with groups ranging from Grammy-nominated musicians and award-winning bands to major orchestras and international steel pan ensembles—including the famous Birdsong Steel Orchestra at Trinidad's Panorama.

Chad’s solo steel drum performances feature high-quality backing tracks and an extensive repertoire of calypso, soca, reggae, and tropical favorites, perfect for creating an unforgettable island vibe. His warm presence and top-tier musicianship make him a favorite for both casual beach-themed gatherings and elegant upscale events.

Chad is also a published composer and an artist/clinician for top percussion brands including Pearl Drums, Adams Musical Instruments, Grover Pro Percussion, Innovative Percussion, Remo, and Humes & Berg.

Setup Time: Approximately 30 minutes before the performance to arrange equipment and soundcheck.

Space Requirements: A flat, covered area (indoor or outdoor) of about 8x8 feet is ideal.

Power: Access to a standard electrical outlet (110V) within 25 feet is preferred for backing tracks.

Sound System: I provide my own portable PA system suitable for small to medium-sized events (up to ~200 guests).

Weather: For outdoor events, a covered area is necessary if raining. A shaded area is necessary if over 85 degrees to protect equipment and ensure sound quality.

Parking: Convenient parking near the event site for loading and unloading equipment is appreciated.

Attire: Performance attire can be customized to fit the event vibe, from casual island wear to formal attire—please specify your preference in advance.

Repertoire: I’m happy to discuss song requests or event-specific music preferences prior to the event.
