We are not just a Jazz Band We’re a foot-tappin’ grab your partner and cut-a-rug 17 piece dance band. We specialize in the great swing standards of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Les Brown, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Harry James, Duke Ellington and many others. We can also spice it up with tunes from Herb Alpert, Cole Porter, Henry Mancini, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima and more.
Throw in some hits from Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Ides of March
and That’s Entertainment!

What to expect
We are a traditional big band offering performances of primarily swing music with some more modern rock music. Some of the more modern titles are Mustang Sally, Vehicle, and Rolling In The Deep just to name a few.
About
The Starlighters Swinging Big Band started as a group of musicians in a community band who wanted to play a little more often and some other styles of music. We got our start in 1998 from one of the community band members who had led The Starlighters in the 1950s in our area. He still had the music and the fronts and was generous enough to give it all to us. Since then we have grown our repertoire and improved our equipment to be able to offer a great performance. Our performers come from all walks of life, but we come together to play music as often as we can.
Additional booking notes
Our only requirement is stage space and one nearby 110 volt electric outlet with a 20 amp circuit breaker powering it.

We have approximately 100 songs that are currently performance ready. We are constantly working to add more. Please contact me and I can send you a current list.
Influences and inspiration
Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, The Rat Pack, Louis Prima and Michael Buble' are just a few of the performers that made our type of music well known.
Setup requirements
We provide all of our own equipment. We need a 12X24 foot staging area and a single electric outlet and we take care of the rest.
