About
Special Effects is comprised of five seasoned musicians, each with illustrious backgrounds, who have come together in 2024 to create this party supergroup. We are:
Tia Charles - Vocals and Flute. Tia’s professional career began at age 19 as a lead vocalist for Walt Disney World. Over the years, Tia has performed as lead vocalist for various bands for private functions and corporate events. From hard rock and blues to pop and country to jazz and Broadway, Tia is a vocal master who invokes excitement with her high energy performances and audience interaction.
Keith Hall - Vocal and Keyboards. Keith is a Jacksonville native, born and raised. He started his music journey playing keyboards by ear in elementary school and has cultivated his natural talent ever since. Keith draws the most inspiration from the pop/alternative music of the 1980s, but he enjoys playing popular music that reaches across decades and across genres. Having mastered the art of modern keyboards and the technology that allows his music to sound like any instrument a song may need, he has played professionally with a number of groups ranging from pop/rock to easy listening to older standards, and even reggae. Keith also provides supporting vocals. He considers himself an eternal student and is as passionate about working with other musicians he can learn from as he is about performing for live audiences.
Ted Wattron- Guitar. Ted has played guitar since high school and began playing professionally in 1979 as a solo act in Jacksonville Beach. Since then he has played in various duos and dance bands in the Jacksonville area including Thermal Image, Hot Cotton and Sandals.
Craig Erhorn - Bass Guitar. Originally from the New York City area, Craig is a highly experienced performing and recording bassist. His musical experiences include performing in large venues seating thousands, and many years in wedding/party bands in the Northeast. He has appeared on commercial recordings with national distribution and worked extensively with a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter in New York. Since relocating to Jacksonville, he has worked with a number of well-known local bands and touring musicians from national acts.
Thad Taylor - Drums. Born and raised in Washington state, Thad took to the drums at age 10 and over the years enjoyed providing the foundation for a wide variety of live and recorded music. These include theatre, orchestra, marching band, jazz, classic rock, and several superb original bands rooted in folk rock, hard/progressive rock and R&B. He relocated to Nashville in 2014 and on to Saint Johns FL in 2023.
