What to expect

Visit types vary. We can mingle among guests at your venue/event, sit and pose for photos, hand out gifts (provided by your venue)...timing is booked by the hour, so let us know what you'd like and we'll structure the visit accordingly.

All we need is a place to sit (for both Santa and Mrs. Claus) and a place to park on arrival where we won't be observed by little eyes as we make our entrance, and depart.

About

Santa (Markus Steelgrave) has been a family/children's entertainer for over 50 years--as a magician, balloon twister, juggler, circus performer, actor, and (of course!) Santa Claus.

Mrs. Claus (Angelique Steelgrave) earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and has worked as an actor and children's performer ever since--founding and performing with her own children's theatre, and later on working with Markus as a magical assistant and balloon twister.

The two of us still perform as magicians and balloon twisters (our other Profile is "Magic of The Steelgraves" here on GigSalad), and shift into our alter-egos in mid-November. Together, we've been The Clauses since 2005, having been "regulars" at many local venues.

Typically, we limit our "Santa and Mrs. Claus" appearances to the holiday season, but are also available for "Christmas in July" celebrations.

Performing for children and families has been our focus for decades. Over the years the personas of "The Clauses" have come to be a large part of who we both are as humans. :-) We embrace that. After all, Markus is hard to disguise while he runs errands (that beard is real!); kiddos at the grocery store immediately recognize "Santa" when they see him.

As Mrs. Claus, it's easier for me to go "incognito", as I don't have a conspicuous beard, and tend to wear a variety of wigs when I'm in character but not when I'm performing magic or twisting balloons.

So...being family entertainers while we're in NON-Santa mode, Markus has become adept at deflecting the "you look like Santa!" comment with a funny quip. And, he never performs magic tricks or twists balloons as Santa, since we frequently perform for kids' events during other parts of the year and we don't want to "blow our cover", so to speak. :-)

After all, Santa has his own type of Magic...and both of us strive always to embody that.
