Devonne

Devonne was hired to perform at a Corporate hybrid Juneteenth event. She wrote original spoken word pieces within a tight deadline. On the event day, Devonne arrived early and gave an outstanding performance, receiving great feedback from attendees. Devonne was a pleasure to work with from start to finish.

My experience of and working with Devonne was Exceptional. I have never met anyone so dedicated to their craft. I recently commissioned Devonne to write and perform a work in honor of my girlfriend's birthday. Devonne was able to create such a poignant composition from the background information I gave her. She captured Victoria's essence so succinctly, it was like she had know her for years.
Not only was Devonne's piece a beautiful amalgam of my girlfriend's life and my feelings for her, but she really dug into her craft by researching aspects of Victoria and her interests. I had a dream about this moment and it actually came true! Thank YOU Devonne

My name is Michael, and I work for a global asset management company. We hired Devonne for a virtual corporate event centered around diversity, equity & inclusion, where we awarded scholarship money to incoming diverse 2021 summer interns. Devonne was hired as entertainment for the evening. To say it was a pleasure to work with such a talented woman would be an understatement. As a previous Broadway performer myself, I am no stranger to the inner workings of putting a performance together. Not only was Devonne professional but such a light! She created a bespoke performance where she drew inspiration from the interns' essay submissions. Behind her spoken word, she was accompanied by saxophone and keyboard, all her own creative ideas. In addition to writing and performing a spoken word poem, she also sang a rendition of Tori Kelly's "Day Dream." Her voice is so beautiful to listen to. To top off these wonderful performances, she produced them in the recording studio and on film so that we were able to "plug and play" during our virtual event. It is important to note that she used her own contacts. To sum this up, it was like working with a one-stop-shop. She was worth every penny, every email, and every minute I spent with her. Do yourselves a favor; if you are looking for someone to create a professional, inspired, and quality performance, look no further. I feel I made a dear friend through this process, and we will definitely be keeping her and her team in our back pocket.

We recently commissioned Devonne for an intimate performance at my best friends birthday party. We had limited time for planning the performance due to the pandemic, everything for the celebration was being rushed in the final week. I had wanted to include spoken word at the party, but had honestly let go of the vision because of time and budget - I worried I didn't have enough time to give direction that would produce an authentic performance- and my budget was limited. I must note that I own an Event Production Agency and the party was honoring my business partner - so my standards are VERY high as we produce large scale events and I develop and direct shows with some incredible talent (sometimes including A-list celebs) ... so when planning a party in Manahattan as the city was in the early stages of shutting down again - I was very blessed we found Devonne. Her rates were extremely affordable - she was very quick to respond and was more than passionate about getting involved to make a special performance. I shared detailed information about the guest of honor, and Devonne reviewed it all to get an idea of the character and passion of the birthday girl. She then wrote an original poem for her, which was so moving the guest of honors mother asked for the poem to be framed for her to keep forever! The performance was intimate, and she was accompanied by a jazz saxophonist. They even dressed to the nines for our "speakeasy theme"! She performed the poems during our cocktail hour, and then when we sat for dinner she sang with the sax. They even brought an audio tech to make sure their sound was perfect. I was blown away by the professionalism-- but even more so by the passion and sincere love for her work. I will surely be working with Devonne again!!
