She delivers excellence, versatility, and a commitment to artistic growth. Her credentials from mentorship under Linda Poetschke at The University of Texas at San Antonio in Vocal Performance as well as advanced studies in vocal health guarantee a professional experience.
About
She received her training in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Linda Poetschke at The University of Texas at San Antonio and has been training vocalists in San Antonio for more than 27 years in all different genres.
Sonya is also an accomplished vocalist. She is part of the internationally acclaimed classical vocal ensemble ,SAVAE (San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble.
recorded four ground-breaking CDs and toured to cities across the
United States including New York, Washington D.C., Seattle,
Milwaukee–among many others. The International Baroque
the ensemble has
Chicago, Dallas, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Houston, and
Music Festival of Bolivia presented SAVAE in three concerts for
that festival’s “Misiones Chiquitos” series—marking the
ensemble’s first foreign tour.
SAVAE’s inventive approach to the fusion of pre-colombian and
European musical elements won the ensemble an invitation to
record Academy Award-winning composer Todd Boeckelhide’s
score for the acclaimed PBS documentary, “Discovering
Dominga.” Other SAVAE recordings have also been used on film
projects such as Ridley Scott’s “Kingdom of Heaven”.
The group’s recording of 2000-year-old Middle Eastern music,
“Ancient Echoes,” was released in late 2002 and shot to #2 on
WNYC radio’s annual listener poll for that year.
Sonya has appeared in numerous roles in opera and musical theater projects including Maria in West Side Story and Rizzo in Grease.
She was selected and published in the Marquis Who's Who in America as a Voice Teacher and Educator.
As part of continuing education studies, Sonya Florie has attended The Fifth Interdisciplinary Voice Intervention Studies through The Voice Institute and studied Voice Disorders through the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Will be playing most of the music with tracks through an audio system. That can be provided by the facility.
If this is for a wedding or funeral a sound system may not be necessary, but preferred.
