🎶 Son del Sur — Band Biography

Son del Sur is a dynamic Latin band born from the rich rhythms and traditions of Cuban music and developed into a vibrant fusion of Latin genres. For more than six years, the band has been bringing authentic Latin flavor, contagious energy, and exceptional musicianship to audiences throughout the region.

Rooted in Cuban rhythms, Son del Sur has evolved by incorporating Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Latin Jazz, Rumba, and other Latin styles, creating a versatile sound that can adapt to any celebration—from an intimate gathering to a high-energy dance party.

The band features accomplished musicians with more than 30 years of artistic experience. José Ochoa, the band’s manager and percussionist, brings his expertise on congas, timbales, and a variety of other percussion instruments. Victor Raúl Verano is an accomplished conguero and percussionist who adds depth, rhythm, and authentic Latin flavor to the band’s sound. Leading the group is vocalist Ivet Garbet, whose powerful and versatile voice, together with her maracas and güira, adds an energetic and distinctive presence to every performance.

Together, these talented musicians create a sound that honors the roots of Cuban music while embracing the diversity and evolution of Latin music. Their passion, experience, and ability to connect with the audience make Son del Sur more than a band—they create an experience that brings people together through music, rhythm, and celebration.

Son del Sur provides a professional sound system for our performances. Lighting can also be provided as needed, depending on the event and venue.

A reliable Wi-Fi/internet connection is required for certain performance setups, as our live show incorporates technology to manage additional musical elements and create a full, polished sound.

For outdoor events, a covered or sheltered performance area is preferred to protect our instruments, sound system, and professional electronic equipment from rain and excessive sun. If the venue does not have a covered area, Son del Sur can provide a canopy/tent when needed, depending on the event and setup.
