Solo Saxophonist for all events

I start with what kind of an event it is. From there, I pay attention to who hired me, to see, if they have a preference of music. I gather as much info. as possible before I start to set up. Even thougth, I may have spoken to the person in charge of event already, I always double check with them when I arrive. Doing this, allows for a smooth transition to the mood and atmosphere I want to set. I't works! Requests, of songs, is also a vidal part of putting together a nice event. Craig Shur

I took a few lessons from a great saxophone player in San Diego. Joe Marillo! The Godfather of jazz in San Diego. Then moved. back to Philadelphia Pa. That's where I'm from. After a few years, decided to move back to San Diego. I found Joe again, and then started again as nothing had happened! I loved that about him, He had a great soul. I was able to learn the saxophone and to play with my heart and soul. I constantly work on my sound, tone, phrasing, and using the melody of the song. I love using colors. as a painter would use on his canvas, in order to bring the song to life! This is how I practice and when I perform at an event, you get to know me this way. I use all the skills I've learned and apply those skills with every tune I present to the audience. In my performance, you'll hear the melody, so the listener can relate and set a time or memory to that song. Most songs, you can relate with words and melody. It works great for me!
