Carla's artistry of Barbra Streisand was flawless: her vocal talent was exceptional and her tribute performace of Barbra Streisand was exquisite. Her comedic timing, behavioral nuances, reparte, and, costuming/makeup were 100% pure Streisand. The invited guests were mesmerized - the guest of honor, my Mother was captivated, star struck, overwhelmed and in absolute bliss during Carla's performance. Three years later, my Mother, Father, their friends, the guests, and me still talk about that memorable day - that we were blessed to celebrate a milestone for my Mother's 75th and were "the luckiest people in the world" to experience the magnificent Carla DelVallagio's Artistry of Barbra Streisand. Carla brings to this project more than 25 years of professional experience as a singer and stage performer, as well as a passion for and appreciation of the exquisite artistry of Ms Streisand. Having spent most of her career as a classically trained opera singer, Carla has always been inspired by and drawn to the voice and persona of Ms Streisand and she has successfully captured the essence of the one and only "Funny Girl" herself.
This project began as many others in the tribute artistry business. Over the years, friends, family and strangers often remarked about her resemblance to Streisand in looks and mannerisms, as well as her voice. Over and over she heard, "Has anyone ever told you that you look/sound like..." so she began to think about it in a more serious way. Her Streisand impersonation had its premiere performance at the "Sunburst Convention for Look-Alikes and Celebrity Impersonators" in Orlando, Fl. in 2006. To say that the response has been overwhelming would be an understatement.
Since that time she has entertained around the country at everything from private parties and corporate events, to Jewish Community Centers and night-clubs, and has performed on the Legends Stage at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. She even showed up at a corporate fundraiser as Roz Focker, Ms Streisand's alter ego from the movie, "Meet the Fockers".
"Then and Now"
Carla's uncanny resemblance to "Vintage" 1964 Barbra, as well as her skill in portraying Ms Streisand as we know her now, has given her the ability to create a show that is completely unique. Entitled "Then and Now...A Tribute to the Artistry of Barbra Streisand", this show, in 2 acts, encompasses the classic songs (and the "look") so closely identified with the singer in the early days, as well as the songs she has made her very own in more recent years. "Then and Now" is distinctive in the industry, as no one else performs as both the younger and older Barbra Streisand.
