Illinois native Camellia “Sherese Wood overcame molestation, child abuse, homelessness and Stage 3A Breast Cancer and now travels all over the globe sharing her story and empowering people to overcome life experiences and enjoy a more abundant life. Sherese has dedicated over 30 years to ministry, being a mother to her four children and serving others.
Sherese was born in Illinois but grew up in a variety of income level households. She grew up learning about chicken and blueberries on the farms of Michigan, to the streets and churches of Ohio and Illinois. She lived in foster homes, with her parents (separately) and with relatives. At the age of 19, she married. By the age of 29, she tried to commit suicide and at the age of 30 and 4 children later, she ended her marriage. Sherese’s mother introduced her to the bible and church at the age of 5. By the time she hit the age of 45, she serviced the church in the offices of lay minister, minister of praise/liturgical dance, assistant superintendent of the Sunday school department, certified community service chaplain, women’s ministry leader, community outreach, choir director and various committees and groups. During that time, Sherese also became a part of the working class homeless. Allowing her children to live with their father in Pennsylvania was the hardest choice ever. Professionally, Sherese has held jobs as a Medical Assistant, Research Project Manager, Regional Billing Specialist, Chiropractic Assistant, Clinical Research Coordinator. By the time Sherese was 47 (2016) she was diagnosed with Stage 3A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer). This battle changed her life. Now at age 50, Sherese now walks in the beauty and energy of her creator.
Sherese has learned that our journey will have battles, pitfalls, hurts, disappointments and struggles but our attitude in how we approach and go through them is how we overcome and live a more abundant life.
In her free time, Sherese found out that she enjoys performing stand-up comedy. Sherese has always been the class clown or the life of the party. 2018, she desired to take it a step further and step out on faith and give stand-up a try. She fell in love with being on stage and having a room full of people listen and respond.
