The key to having the best party is a combination of good food, drinks and most importantly… “The Shea Butta Band” to provide the music and entertainment. This talented cover band can sing and play almost anything! They personally interact with and entertain all the guests. Everyone will leave your party/event with a smile on their face, joy in their heart and tons of fond memories.
I hired “The Shea Butta Band” to entertain at a 60th Wedding Anniversary party and they delivered an awesome performance! Several guests sent me video clips from the party and inquired how they could book this talented band. I will never forget the lead singers “Shea Smooth” and “Sweet D“ helping my dad to serenade and dance with my mom to Temptation's “My Girl” . Another highlight was watching a 90 year old woman join the band on stage as she demonstrated the proper way to dance to Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady”. I also think the great Johnny “Guitar” Watson in musical heaven was smiling and proud of the band’s cover of his song “A Real Mother For Ya”. Enjoying the soulful singing and skillful playing of the strumming guitar and the thumping bass.
Thanks for the superb job “The Shea Butta Band”! I am looking forward to booking you again for my next event/party. 😄

The Shea Butta Band (SBB) has the gift of bringing a performance to life, not just with its melodic voices but also by engaging the crowd. The SBB doesn't just sing, they perform! With its unique variety of music from neo-soul, old and new-school R&B, pop, house, and a touch of jazz, the SBB offers a musical experience that is both diverse and captivating.
The SBB evolved from a vision of its lead singer, Shea Smooth, who knew his talents and natural performance style should be featured in his band. After hearing Sweet D's melodic vocal range, he knew their voices and styles were a unique match, and the SBB was formed. Crowds, old and young, marvel at the melodic sounds of the SBB and their ability to make the audience feel a part of the show.
The SBB has handpicked some of Chicago's most talented musicians, each bringing their unique energy to complement the band and match the skills of its lead vocalists.

Our set list includes a variety of soul, R&B, Blues, Light Rock and a bit of Country and Jazz. Some of our songs include artists such as Elvis Presley, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, the Blues Brothers, Chaka Khan, Dolly Parton, Beyonce, among many others!
We can provide sound equipment upon request for a small additional fee. If you provide equipment, we would need power speakers, three microphones, and a PA system.
