Karen is a communication faculty member at the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, and Washtenaw Community College. A seasoned speaker and former award-winning Toastmaster, she combines academic expertise with real-world insight. Karen is the author of My Cave City Adventures, a heartfelt book inspired by her family’s hometown. She also founded Horse Bits Academy, a unique program that teaches children reading, communication, and leadership through horse-assisted learning. Karen has delivered a TEDx talk on discovering one’s purpose and has led hospital teams in customer service training to elevate patient care experiences. Her work bridges education, inspiration, and connection—on stage and beyond.
