Shakti Dance Troupe

AuroTejas Hemsell has devoted her life to the study of Indian Classical Dance from the age of five. She has taught Indian Classical Dance and Bollywood Dance, and performed professionally since 2004. Tejas teaches at The Shakti Dance School in Colorado Springs, Denver and on Skype. Tejas organizes World Dance Festivals to promote cultural education. Tejas was born in India and her ethnicity is half Indian and half American. She grew up back and forth between India and America, focusing on her dance studies throughout her life. Tejas has toured Europe, India and America performing and teaching Odissi, East Indian Classical Dance as well as Semi-Classical Bollywood Dance. Odissi is an ancient and sacred temple dance from India dating back to the 2nd Century BC. It evokes the water element with fluid and graceful movements. Odissi is one out of eight styles of Classical dance from India. Indian Classical Dance requires and immense amount of discipline and control over body and mind. Bollywood is song and dance from Indian movies. Tejas is extremely passionate about Indian Dance and Cultural Arts Education.
