What to expect

Barbershop harmony is four-part a cappella singing. We perform ballads and up tunes, from classics to contemporary pieces. Sequence can perform for Christmas, Valentine's Day, birthdays, weddings, special events, etc. Please give us a call, and we guarantee a great time!

About

In December 2007, Kate was at an event where she heard the most beautiful sound in a rotunda. A women's barbershop chorus was performing and she was in awe. Half of her wanted the performance to go on forever, while the other half couldn't wait until they finished so she could ask them how she could join them! Though familiar with barbershop, she had no idea that it was sung in choruses, let alone by women!

A few months later, she invited her friend, Lynmari to come to a rehearsal with her for the local chapter of Sweet Adelines International. As a music educator and natural-born performer, it seemed Lynmari was born for barbershop.

Lynmari then began trying to recruit her own friends and family members, and was eventually successful getting her daughter, Jennifer with her to Hawaii for the 2013 Sweet Adelines International Competition as a supportive audience member. It wasn't long before Jennifer was hooked.

Kate, Lynmari, and Jennifer all sang in a variety of different quartets over the years, then the stars aligned in the summer of 2019. Jennifer, who also has an extensive music education and experience both performing in and directing musical groups, was hired to be Mountain Jubilee Chorus's director. She invited her talented daughter Alex to join her in singing in a quartet with herself and her mother, Lynmari. Having sung with Kate before in another quartet, she asked the bass to audition for her group, and thus Sequence was born! We're three generations . . . and Kate. :)

Though we've only been together for a few months, we are thrilled with our sound and the direction our quartet is going together! We're all passionate about music and performing, and we look forward to sharing our talents and skills with audiences all round.

Set list

We sing everything from Christmas to love songs to patriotic pieces. We have classic barbershop pieces, as well as contemporary tunes to get younger audiences involved. If you give us enough time in advance, we'll learn a piece of your choosing, as long as it's 4-part harmony. :)
