What does joy sound like? Subdued background music with nylon string guitar. Spencer plays 80% original compositions that have flamenco, pop, jazz, bossa nova, classical and Spanish sounds. He also infuses music of Bach and occasional rock pieces disguised as classical. His approach to performance is one of quiet reflection and relaxation as a break from the other instruments and ensembles he performs in as a performing artist.
Perfect for corporate meetings of all sizes, Spencer has performed for hundreds of weddings and events. Spencer is also a solo double bassist and plays cello for special events.
We were so very pleased to have Spencer play his guitar for my daughter’s wedding, in honor of her late father’s love of guitars. His original music is wonderful and he is very accommodating. He even accompanied the bride and her sister playing a flute duet of a Beatles tune. He knows his stuff.
Exactly what we were looking for. Spencer was perfect. Would hire again.
Spencer did an incredible job at our holiday event! His guitar sound was beautiful and our employees really enjoyed his music. He was so accommodating, easy to work with, and played the perfect blend of sound for our specific party. Thank you so much to Spencer for coming to play for us, we really enjoyed having him!

We were thrilled to have Spencer play classical guitar at our daughters birthday. The sound was the perfect backdrop during dinner and our guest thoroughly enjoyed his playing. He was very professional, arrived on time and played his set through the entire time we had him. Spencer is personable, courteous and will add a memorable touch to any of your events.
Spencer played as a guest performer for our Candlelight Church service. He was on time, flexible and worked well with our lead Musician. His playing was very well received by all in attendance and everyone wants him to return and play again. Thank you Spencer!
Spencer was perfect for the job. He was professional, played a great array of music on guitar, cello and ukelele, and went along with the flow when our crowd got rowdy :)
Spencer was great! His presence really added something special to our event. He was professional and provided the exact upbeat music to fit the mood of the event and enhance the evening. I also loved working through Gigsalad. It was a quick and easy way to locate and book talented musicians in the area. We had a very positive experience and will definitely do it again!
We hired Spencer to play guitar and cello as guests arrived for a 1:00 ceremony, and through the reception. What an amazing treat! Spencer is very talented, highly professional and very friendly. I would use his musical services again, should an event arise.

What to Expect
It's quite simple. You will hear a high quality classical guitar in the hands of a great musician. The music will have very few noticeable pauses between pieces. The musician will arrive early, will require minimum setup, and will select a variety of musics to fit the ambiance of the event. You should be able to type my name, Spencer Hoveskeland, into any search engine and find out all about me.
Spencer started with the ukulele as a child and continued to pursue music via the cello, double bass, and went to university as a classical guitar major. His career as a bassist has given him many television, radio and concert performances as a musician and humorist including solos in Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, El Zocolo in Mexico City and other places around the globe. His compositions and musical skills permeate everything he touches and he returns to the guitar presently strictly for pleasure, joy, and to explore his own music.

Music varies from the Baroque period to my own music. There will be a Spanish or classical element to most selections although some swing tunes, folk, fingerstyle, and jazz sounds are all present in my original music.
