I'm a saxophonist based in the Baltimore area. I'm currently studying saxophone at the Peabody Conservatory, and I can play a wide range of music in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, and pop. I play all of the saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone), and I regularly perform music for solo saxophone, saxophone saxophone and piano, saxophone duo, saxophone quartet, and saxophone with electronics.

High quality performances featuring a versatile range of musical genres and styles. Performances can include music for solo (unaccompanied) saxophone, saxophone and piano (very common), saxophone duo, saxophone quartet, saxophone and electronics, and other ensembles.
Saxophonist Sean Meyers is committed to exploring and expanding the repertoire of his instrument through virtuosic performance of its traditional literature and by commissioning new works for saxophone. Praised for the “eagerness, kindness, and pure excellence with which [he] gobble[s] up new works,” Sean has given world premieres of nearly a dozen works for saxophone.
Premieres include works for solo saxophone, saxophone with electronics, saxophone quartet, and mixed ensembles including the (phone number hidden)4 Synesthesia Project, a multimedia concert series featuring collaborations between Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) interdisciplinary artists and Peabody composers and performers. Sean has also premiered works by Mark Fromm, Oscar Bettison, James Young, Andrew Posner, Justin Porter, Sean William Calhoun, Benjamin Learish, and Nick Dulworth. As well as collaborating with composers, Sean performs music ranging from Hindemith to Piazzolla in a variety of traditional and non-traditional venues including the Baltimore War Memorial, Walters Art Museum, BBox Theater at MICA, Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, the Windup Space, Carey Business School of the Johns Hopkins University, and Shenandoah University.
As the Director of Artistic Operations with Symphony Number One, Sean makes key artistic and organizational decisions to carry out the new orchestra’s mission. In addition to his administrative role, he is a regular performer in the ensemble and will be giving the world premiere of Andrew Boss’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Chamber Orchestra in Fall 2015. Sean also organizes and presents weekly outreach concerts in the Baltimore community as a Site Coordinator for the Creative Access at Peabody.
Sean’s playing has led him to perform in master classes for saxophonists Timothy McAllister, Kenneth Tse, Carrie Koffman, Noa Even, and members of the Army Field Band Saxophone Quartet. Sean was recently awarded a Peabody Career Development Grant to participate in the 26th Université Européenne de Saxophone in Gap, France, where he will take lessons and masterclasses from an international panel of saxophonists including Claude Delangle, Masataka Hirano, and Arno Bornkamp.
Sean is pursuing degrees in Saxophone Performance and Music Education at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. He studies saxophone with Gary Louie and conducting with Dr. Harlan Parker.
