Scotty is an award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, and educator based in Vancouver. His work has earned a JUNO Award nomination, a Polaris Music Prize shortlist nomination, and two Western Canadian Music Awards. He has collaborated with artists and producers including Illangelo (The Weeknd, Drake), Deputy (Rihanna), Jerrod Bettis (Adele), DJ Paul Oakenfold, as well as blues legends Hubert Sumlin (Howlin’ Wolf) and Jody Williams (Muddy Waters).
Scotty is originally from Saskatchewan, where an early musical environment—shaped by a yodelling grandfather, a father who was a professional auctioneer and songwriter, and a mother who sang radio jingles—instilled a natural foundation for melody, rhythm, and storytelling.
Scotty is a genre-fluid artist whose path has moved from early rock influences into a deep study of post-war Chicago blues, leading to years of touring across North America and Europe as a drummer and performer. During this time, he shared stages with artists connected to the Chess Records lineage and developed a grounded, performance-first understanding of groove and musical communication.
Scotty is a working ghostwriter and songwriter for artists in contemporary pop, R&B, and soul, and has participated in a Roc Nation songwriting camp at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles. and has worked in major creative hubs including Los Angeles’ Hotel Café. He has independently released four full-length albums and contributed to numerous artist projects across folk, soul, R&B, country, rock, pop, and jazz.
Scotty is a graduate of the Jazz program at Vancouver Island University (2019), and his work emphasizes clarity, emotional weight, and strong songwriting across genres.
Scotty is currently based in Coal Harbour, Vancouver, where he writes, produces, performs, and mentors artists in vocal performance, songwriting, and production.
