July 18, 2022We hired this band last minute as a surprise the day before our son's birthday. We spoke with the bandleader that night and everything was fine. He calls the next day which is the day of the party to say that he has covid which makes no sense because he would have known that the day before or at least had symptoms the night before. He then could have declined the gig and we would have hired another band. Instead we were left the day of driving 5 hours while trying to find a replacement to no avail. Needless to say we did not have a band and I would not plan any event around this band in the future.

I completely understand the displeasure. I'm apologetic, but my piano player informed me he tested positive for covid. I feel like I did the responsible thing and backed out of the gig.

I'm a Metro Detroit drummer and band leader, I've been a part of the Detroit Jazz Scene since 2007. My trio and quarter has been performing consistently at The Maple Theater, Riviera Theater, La Vita Bistro, Pewabic Pottery, Lafyette Market for the last five years along with private parties, and cocktail hours.
We perform Jazz/Blues/Latin standards of 1940's-1960's.
