Makeup has always been one of my passions. I love being creative and doing artistic things, and I feel like makeup, hair, and mehendi are some of the best ways to do that. Throughout the years my passion for all of these have grown, hence my deciding to open SB Artistry for business.
I first started doing full face makeup in the summer 2014. After I started to experiment with it, I fell in love with it as an art. It began with just eye shadow looks and liner. Then it transformed into intricate contouring and highlighting as well as elaborate glamorous looks. I did different looks almost everyday, trying to experiment with different colors until I became so good all of my friends and family would ask for me to do their makeup for them.
I have always enjoyed doing hair. I’m a Sikh, so, because of religious reasons, I don’t cut my hair. When your hair is as long as mine, you start getting incredibly creative. I started with simple braids and buns, then I started learning how to do elaborate hairstyles, now I can do anything from a simple braid to an elaborate up-do.
The first time I did mehendi/henna was in middle school, and it looked horrible. However, I’ve always been fascinated by the art. I think it’s extremely beautiful. So, once I went to University, I began practicing regularly until I actually started to get good at it. I watched so many tutorial, and I would pay attention to other artists at weddings. Now I really enjoy doing it, and, if I do say so myself, am quite good at it.
