We arrive on time, dress appropriately for your event, and work closely with organizers to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Our performances are tailored to your audience, whether you’re looking for relaxed background music during dinner and cocktail hour or an energetic show that gets guests singing and dancing. With a repertoire spanning jazz, soul, R&B, pop, rock, and today’s favorites, we adapt our setlist to fit your venue and create the perfect atmosphere.
Available as either an intimate duo or a full band, Sax & Soul offers flexible entertainment options for weddings, private parties, corporate events, festivals, restaurants, breweries, and community events. We pride ourselves on professional musicianship, engaging stage presence, and creating memorable experiences that keep audiences coming back.

Sax & Soul is a South Carolina-based musical duo featuring Alondra Johnson and Cody Sax, both recent graduates of Coastal Carolina University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music. With extensive performance experience across the United States and internationally—including London, Vienna, and South Korea—the duo brings a sophisticated and versatile approach to live music, blending jazz, R&B, soul, pop, and contemporary favorites.

Alondra Johnson is an inaugural Sony Music Group Global Scholar, selected as one of just 50 students from applicants representing more than 75 countries. She is also an alumna of the Country Music Association’s education program. A lifelong performer, Johnson began gigging at fourteen in her hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, and has spent nearly half her life developing her craft across a wide range of musical settings, from orchestra pits and theater productions to party bands and live entertainment.

Johnson has worked alongside internationally recognized artists including Earth, Wind & Fire, Dethklok, Here Come the Mummies, Ana Popovic, and Albert Castiglia. Her work also extends into music research and education, where she has collaborated with composers and scholars including Amanda Harberg and Jenni Brandon through her three year fellowship with the Center for Collaborative Research. Her experience in event production began at fifteen when she produced her first festival. Today, she remains active in the Myrtle Beach music community as Coordinator of Education and Community Outreach for the Myrtle Beach Songwriters Festival.

Cody Sax maintains an equally diverse performance career. He serves as Principal Clarinet of the Florence Symphony Orchestra and as a cellist for Surfside Presbyterian Church. In 2025, Sax was awarded second place in the Panorama competition with the Philly Pan Stars in Brooklyn, New York. He performs regularly with the Emerald Empire Band and as a freelance musician, with appearances at venues including the Carolina Opry and Brookgreen Gardens.
Sax has collaborated with Pulitzer-nominated composer Armando Bayolo, as well as composers Jenni Brandon, Amanda Harberg, and Valerie Coleman. His extensive theater experience includes orchestra pit performances for productions such as Urinetown, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Grease!, Alice by Heart, Merrily We Roll Along, and Cabaret, among others.

Together, Sax & Soul combine their diverse musical backgrounds to create an engaging and polished live experience. Their repertoire spans jazz standards, R&B, soul, pop, classic rock, and contemporary favorites, allowing them to tailor their sound to a wide variety of audiences and occasions. Whether performing for weddings, private events, corporate functions, festivals, or live music venues, Sax & Soul bring musicianship, versatility, and an unmistakable sense of connection to every performance.

Sax & Soul is a fully self-contained act and can provide professional sound equipment for both our duo and full band performances, including speakers and microphones. We require access to standard electrical outlets near the performance area and a level performance space appropriate for the size of the ensemble.

For larger events where enhanced audio quality is desired, we can coordinate a professional front-of-house audio engineer to ensure the best possible sound experience. Professional stage lighting can also be arranged upon request for concerts, festivals, weddings, and other large-scale events. Both will include an additional cost to cover time and equipment cost.

We are happy to work directly with your venue, event planner, or production team to accommodate any existing sound or lighting systems and can provide an input list or stage plot if needed. Our goal is to make the technical side of your event as seamless and stress-free as possible.
