I pride myself of being sure that even the most timid child gets a happy moment with Santa. I like to interact with the kids and play. After all Santa is really just a big kid and wants everyone to have joy, kindness and love in thier hearts. I like to read the Night before Christmas then talk with the kids one on one as we pass out gifts. I am very easy to work with and if you have something special in mind. I am always willing becuse its your event/visit. I'm just adding in that little bit of magic to keep everyone's spirits joyful.
My Santa journey started about 16 years ago. My neighbor was the volunteer Children’s Party host for our community center. When she called my wife asking if I could be the Santa because the other guy got sick and the party started in a few hours. So, I did it even though I was not too keen on it. Let me tell you... from the moment I entered the room, and the kids all ran up with pure JOY! Yelling SANTA!!! ... well, I was hooked. I continue to be their Santa to this day. About 4 years ago, people started asking me to come be Santa for them not having a suit of my own I borrowed the Community Centers for the first year. Then I learned what Santa Brotherhood was, when my mentor gave me one of his old suits for me to use. I still have that suit and probably will never get rid of it, I'm very sappy that way...ho ho ho. So now I have 2 of my own suits and my own gear and I am full of JOY and Christmas Spirit. So, I cannot wait for my next Santa Visit!
For small groups or home visits it is always helpful if Santa could have a list of the kids names prior to the visit. Besure to add elf names and pet names too. Larger groups it helps to print the names on the gifts to be given out. It also works well if there is someone willing to be Santa's volunteer elf to help guide the kids to and from the visit line.
Santa only needs a chair or even better a bench or sofa. I don't like to force a nervous child to sit on my lap. Its much more comfy to sit next to someone while you negoiate being on the nice list.
