You can expect to have Santa. I can deliver gifts, tell stories, read a book or just visit. Of course, you can always take pictures!

The Santa Claus

I have always had a beard and it began turning white, along with the rest of my hair early in life. Once it had grayed enough, people began pestering me about being Santa. My first experience was at an elementary school where I worked. They had a cheap Santa Suit the custodian had worn with a cheap beard, but the principal asked if I would wear it, since I would look much more convincing with the natural white beard. For the next two years, while I was at that school, I was Santa.

I didn’t really think about it much for the next few years, while I worked other places, until the rector at our church offered to help me purchase a suit if I would be Santa at a couple events at the church. When I was at the costume shop, I opted for an expensive suit and made the decision it was time to begin being Santa. I had finally accepted the Claus. It took a couple years doing events for some schools, church and non-profits, before I decided to go “Pro.” Now, I’m a card carrying member of the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas (FORBS) and have become a professional Santa.

As Santa I don’t have any technical requirements but many people ask me about setting up for my visit. I suggest a bench, like a piano bench, or a large chair near the tree works well for pictures. I like a bench to give the children options for where they sit with Santa. Many children will sit next to me but don’t want anything to do with my lap.
