1. Santa should be a warm and caring person.
Santa Jim doesn't transform into a kind, caring person when he puts on the suit; this is who he truly is. He loves people and knows how to communicate warmth, especially to young children.
2. Santa should be outgoing and enthusiastic.
No matter how many hours Santa has been working, he will be joyful and personable. Santa knows each child's experience with Santa is personal and memorable, so being fully present--with a hearty HO HO HO--is very important.
3. Santa should have common sense.
Santa needs common sense experience to deal with unruly children, those with special needs, crying babies, nervous and fidgety kids, and exhausted parents. Santa Jim has been working with kids for many years, both professionally as Santa and as a volunteer in kids' clubs at his church.
4. Santa should be great with children.
Santa must really listen to what children say, understanding their wants--while never promising them specific items. Santa Jim always encourages the children that they will LOVE whatever they find under their tree.
Santa Jim understands how to coax a hesitant child toward him, but he never forces a child to interact. He knows how to communicate on their level so when they leave, they will have happy thoughts of the coming holiday.
5. Santa must be believable!
Many young children believe in Santa. Because of this, Santa Jim works hard to look the part and be a very credible Santa. From his whiskers to his beard to his "bowl full of jelly," Santa Jim will make believers out of young and old alike.
